If an Eternal ship’s oarsman is cancelled, I assume you can roll to scuttle the ship that turn? If rolled successfully, would the ship be placed at the HI via Eternal even on the turn after when the oarsman became “active” again?

I was looking at the no-duplicates list and saw that Crimson Angel was missing. Her spelling doesn’t change from CC up to Rise of the Fiends, and she’s got 4 different versions. I assume she would fall into the same name, same person category. Just a heads up.

@Woelf the ability was meant to be like schooner. As I said, I need to do some heavy wording changes, as it’s supposed to be the ship’s mid-point.

I was thinking, for the Axiom, that I might just change her ability to be a speed boost on that one turn. It’ll just make it easier all around, while still maintaining a similarity to the original draft idea.

@Woelf: I can see what you mean about Axiom’s ability as breakable. I’ve written up a possible edit for her second ability though
1. Once per turn, if this is at her cargo limit, and you can draw a straight line to her Home Island, you may eliminate one of this ship’s crew. If you do, she gets +S+S to her base move, but can only be given move…

So when I said “Upgraded Island”, to me, that means any island where there’s a fort, town, port, or colony (based off Xerecs’s/Ben’s COEC rules). I couldn’t think of any better way to word it 😛

I like that idea of accidental friendly fire, and may suggest suggest implementing it into our next summer campaign. Overall, I see your point about the ability wording though.

@woelf: Strictly as a matter of opinion, do you think that ships should be able to tow other friendly ships that are dismasted but have oarsmen?
With the Oarsman keyword as it stands now, it sounds like that would be illegal since the rules say you can only tow derelicts. However, I think having the option of using the oars is more realistic.…

@Woelf: I imagined that in order for the Ryuk to eliminate a crew they must have the exact same ability text. So you can’t just kill a Captain+Helmsman crew using only one of those generic abilities, since that’s only half of the Cap+Helm ability text. You would actually have to sacrifice a Cap+Helm combo to kill a Cap+Helm combo with this ship.…[Read more]

@Woelf: Do you see any nasty rules issues by making Ransom faction specific, similar to Hostile and Loyal?
For example, “Ransom: Spain” would mean that only the Spanish could get the benefit of the keyword. This is for thematic reasons of course and to simulate some but not all nations putting a price on someone’s head.
