Although the UPS idea from darrin has been made into many fleets, I can’t remember ever seeing versions of it where the “CJS ability” is based on a non-Pirate ship. The Sol and USS Morning Star have the ability, and since CJS is a crew he can relatively easily work with other nationality ships….
Calling this one now. “English UPS 1” p…[Read more]

^Great questions, and the answer to the first brings up another one.
This is a timing issue, but it does have a resolution. It either needs to pop out immediately when the smoke/fog is removed, or it will have to exit from a different one during its next turn.
I can think of an additional timing issue. I feel like this could potentially be f…[Read more]

Which set? Do you mean Spanish Main?
On the topic of artwork, I reached out to Kian Ng (one of the artists) to be on the podcast, but he politely declined.
They produced 13 sets; you can see them all in the Master Spreadsheet.

It certainly can take a long time to complete full sets, especially nowadays with the scarcity and rising prices of some of the rarer stuff.

Then there was that short time when several people reported finding “god boxes” that were loaded up with multiple super rare packs. (I can’t recall which set that was. Anyone else remember? PotC?)
Definitely Caribbean. Though I want to say someone said they had at least one similar box from RotF I think. Pretty sure I remember seeing at least o…[Read more]

Ahoy there, welcome aboard!
What are the odds of finding common/uncommon/rare in any given pack? Do these odds very by set?
I’ve never seen that information; it’s not (ever to my knowledge) published like with other card packs such as Yugioh and from what I remember, some baseball card brands. I will say that it seems easier to get “higher”…[Read more]

Ben started the topic Years in Pirates, By the Numbers in the forum Pirates CSG 5 years, 10 months ago
10 year veteran of the game. With many totals plummeting over time, this makes me think of a new potential “stat of the year” category. One that best encompasses what someone has done with Pirates in a given year. Even with a new-low plays number this year, my “CG4 hour count” would probably be in triple digits. (last turn alone took about 30…[Read more]

I do not plan to run the Pirates CSG Hall of Fame voting this year. With pitiful participation two years running, I don’t see much reason to continue it until more people participate. I’m fine if the other Moderators here run a vote in December or January, but I feel it doesn’t mean a lot if barely any positive votes are required for entry….

This is informal and everyone can just submit their own favorite contributions from the year if you want! 2019 version for reference
If you’d like to nominate certain items for the various categories, please do so. We can vote in this thread as well. I’m completely fine if people just post their favorite submission for the year in each categor…

Ben replied to the topic Custom Ships (post your custom game pieces here!) in the forum Pirates CSG 5 years, 10 months ago
Here is the Sea Turtle Keyword as currently written: If this creature succeeds at a ramming action it eliminates all crew on the enemy ship. It takes 3 hits in the same turn to kill a Sea Turtle (considered to have one mast). Sea Turtles cannot be pinned. Generally Submerged.
One thing to keep in mind is that sea creatures can’t submerge by…[Read more]

Played a quick little game on VASSAL with Tyraziel, who is back into Pirates after many years! He was a member of Flightleader’s old site, I think called Pirates Pocketmodels World.
I made a new fleet I […]

Wow, sounds like quite a contest. Maybe next time I’ll be able to get in on the action.

@Xerecs: Indeed, events always pose an issue. (which is of course why I like to ban them)
That would be an interesting counter – a fully loaded 10 master could pose problems if they used it with their own Hidden Cove and Sac. However, Tia Dalma would help a bit against that contingency, and having two quick-acting “CJS ships” would increase the…[Read more] - Load More
