Crossing the T is an example of a naval strategy that naturally comes up in a pirates game. Basically maximize your firepower on an enemy ship and minimize the enemies ability to fire back.
For the age of sail and into the modern era (ww1) placing the broadside of your ship perpendicular to the bow of your enemies was a major tactical…[Read more]
Jeremiah replied to the topic Relaunch idea – Packs could contain only 1 faction. in the forum Pirates CSG 3 months, 2 weeks ago
Tiffany O’Brien discussed distribution in the podcast. She mentioned working on different ways to distribute the packs from tins to boxes and how the color of the packs were more important than the names at times. Had Wizkids continued making the game I imagine variations on the packs would have been a logical step. I don’t play magic but it is to…[Read more]
Jeremiah replied to the topic What do you miss most about the game being out of print? in the forum Pirates CSG 4 months, 2 weeks ago
I definitely miss going to stores and looking at the Pirates options that I could buy. Weighing out what each set had and what I needed/wanted. Looking at each SE ship in the little cardboard windows and attempting to read their stats. Then of course bringing home the new packs/box and opening them. Followed with a game of pirates typically…[Read more]
I generally like the set though but I definitely agree having only two factions hurts it. Multiple factions and minor factions would have been great and far more true to the movies. My guess is Disney had their hand in making some of those decisions.
I like the introduction of all the movie characters as pieces as well. (perhaps more play testing…[Read more]

Yes and I have done it before. I don’t…[Read more]
<p class=”MsoNormal”>The most recent addition to my collection came from buying a random pirates cgs lot. I got more than I had anticipated. The most noteworthy of the additions (but there were a lot of other additions I needed as well, >100 ships) are the following:
Specter ROFT 300
2/3 of Celtic Fury (just traded to get the other 1/3 to finally…[Read more]
Jeremiah replied to the topic What do you consider the biggest missing thematic element in Pirates CSG? in the forum Pirates CSG 7 months, 2 weeks ago
I like the idea of wind and resources as well. I’ve often enjoyed adding more depth to the game that you see in rule sets like Economy edition.
Wind in my opinion is one of the few mechanics that could have easily been implemented to the game and would not have required large rule reworking. I imagine they could have made a small emblem with n…[Read more]
I only have one person I consistently play pirates with just to be clear. (Although I consider myself fortunate since some people don’t have a consistent play group.
We usually play game types of 80+ point totals with a large amount of gold ~20-40 gold pieces with no specific total. (We definitely play a little loose with the Wizkids rules and s…[Read more]
Jeremiah replied to the topic Kickstarter/etc to buy rights to the game from NECA? in the forum Pirates CSG 8 months, 2 weeks ago
I’ve never used Kickstarter but I don’t know what would be illegal about attempting to buy it from them. I guess the big issue I see would be that it would make you the owner of the license not some other corporation. (not that you personally are the issue just that once the ball is in your court where do we go from there? Would kickstarter also…[Read more]

This project would be a massive undertaking so I don’t take your hesitation as a debbie downer or anything. You make some good points and many of them I agree with. I don’t think the factions should all be balanced or similar. Their uniqueness is something I greatly enjoy and at times wish was even more pronounced. Nor do the cursed require a face…[Read more]
So I remember back on MT there was a discussion (mentioned by Ben I believe) about formulating an “updated” pirates code based upon the the experience and opinions of the present fan base.
There are some examples of modified rule sets form other players http://www.miniaturetrading.com/im/forum/viewtopic/t=5893/highlight=Ruleset//

I mean both in a way. How did Wizkids actually print the ships and stamp them.
How did Wizkids decide on points and ship stats and in general come up with the ships.
We talk a lot about how these ships don’t seem to be play tested (Woelf seems to have confirmed that for some circumstances) but if that is the case then how did they determine w…[Read more]

Oh man I can think of so many.
1. General overview of how sets were designed and finalized.
2. What were some of his ideas that never made it into the game?
3. What sets did he work on?
4. What are things he would have changed in hindsight?
5. How did they make them?
6. Does he recall any sets/plans or potential directions Wizkids had in…[Read more]
Just looked a bit through your customs sheet and discovered your three planned lighthouses. I’m excited to see what ideas you have for them. The Pillar of Eternity is a great addition already. Its ability (I won’t spoil your announcement of it since it has yet to be revealed) fits right into preexisting Pirates abilities so it doesn’t seem…[Read more]
I generally agree with what you all said in the podcast. Had Wizkids not been shut down in 08 and Pirates canceled then I would love for it to have continued as a collectible game. I enjoy the randomness of the pack opening and the collectible aspect of the game. But generic crew selection and other aspects of fleet building made it difficult at…[Read more]
