What’s the point cost of Parley and/or Secret Hold?

Generally Wizkids priced both at 2.  Parley had some variations with crew, sort of costing 1 on the SR version of Captain Mysion (Loyal being -1 is kind of unfathomable), but 3 on Damsel in Distress from PotC.  I prefer Parley at 3 but 2 still feels like a fair cost for it.

I don’t think you can put Dories on a crew and use it for another crew on the same ship, regardless of any links.

Looks like the opposite to me – the keyword doesn’t say the game piece with the keyword has to have the link.  As long as the ship’s linked crew is aboard, that should trigger the ability to work.  We just didn’t see Dories on a cre…[Read more]

@Jack: Have you seen my versions of Anne and Delahaye in Epic Seas?

@Ochobrazo2298: I do like those, I also have a Necromancer in my Epic Seas set. 🙂

Not super useful but I play them a fair bit.

I like the way you play… I think you experiment with the “bad” stuff (recruiters/Marines/etc) more than I have!  I think it’s partly because I like using extra generic crew or equipment over some of the less-useful named crew.  Something about spending 3+ points on a named crew that may not affect t…[Read more]

Are there any other concerns or criticisms on the ship types I presented in post #11796. Any issues to discuss with the Cog, Caravel, Carrack, or Drua.

For Carrack, I would recommend “gets” +1 to its cannon rolls instead of “has”, to be consistent with existing abilities.

It would be interesting to see the design of a drua in the game.

If not…

@Jack: Looks like a pretty solid fleet actually with plenty of gold gathering capability.  Looks to me like the Favori would have 3 cargo spaces open instead of 4, though that’s still good for the main “gunship” of course.  🙂  Actually I do want to see this fleet in action.

You could swap Bordeaux for Gendarmerie Rene Moreau to get 2 extra po…[Read more]

Is there any link in the game as worthless as Benito de Soto and El Tejon? You can’t even use them together without Jonah! Wth??

It’s a disaster with them.  Also a great example of why Reverse Captain should have costed 2 points – it’s not as useful as Captain.  If that were the case, Benito would be 5 points, allowing a helmsman on the Tejon (wh…[Read more]

Strolling down memory lane….  😀

This seller has a factory set of RV along with a few other things.

I’d say I’m 90% wanting to be a player, 10% collector of any English ships I can get cheap. I might have to check out Vasal.

Welcome aboard!  Sounds somewhat similar to me a while back.  My VASSAL page has a tutorial that should be helpful to start using it.

Master Spreadsheet changes: Santa Teresa name fixed in both versions of SM (no “La”), fixed incorrect game piece types in original version of RV.

Also, some easy link references I made with bit.ly:

This way, if you’re at all like me, just pop open a new tab and type “cu…[Read more]

@Woelf: Is the Amity from CC supposed to be a common?  She is on the cards but the spreadsheet(s) list her as uncommon, which is normal for her ship type.
