HMS Swallow Speed Demon Attack
HMS Swallow + Hermione Gold (MI), Griffin (LE version), helmsman, oarsman
HMS Patagonia + Robinson, Administrator Scott Bratley, Lord Mycron, oarsmanThat works as a 40 (45) point fleet. Add a gold runner to make it a 45 or 50 point fleet. Bit more of a combo than a fleet right now, but S+L+S+S doubled with 2’s…[Read more]

What kind of collector are you?
The Penny Pincher: Searches the internet and eBay for hours upon hours to save tens or hundreds of dollars. Possibly could have spent that time just making more money in the first place.
The Deal Hawk: Always on the lookout for good deals, rarely purchases anything. Often gets “deal of the year” type stuff. Usu…[Read more] -

What kind of player are you?
The Gladiator: Treats standard games like a deathmatch. Tries to sink everything.
The Newbie: Barely uses any crew. Doesn’t put helmsmen on ships with S speed.
The Fool: Normally uses a ton of house rules and acts confused when they try to play with other people.
The Scumbag: Only uses Le Bonaparte, Mermaids, B…[Read more] -

I’m from Black Diamond, WA. I’m currently looking for anyone in the Seattle-ish area to get their Pirate on.
Ahoy matey, welcome aboard! I just moved to Everett WA so hopefully we could meet up soon to play! 😀
I got into Pirates CSG around a month ago when I found an unopened Spanish Main pack at my local games store in the bargain bin.<…

Latest Master Spreadsheet fixes: fixed name of the Flying Fish in RV UL, and changed Revenant faction from Spanish to Pirate in SM 1st Edition.

What model ship is the Mars (Pirates of the Age of Sail)?
@mr-wick: I moved your question since this is the proper thread for it.
I have not worked on the Mars custom at all, but I will probably make it a 4 masted square rigged ship (same type as HMS Dover) based on its size and armament.

I am now living in Everett Washington! This means I am in the northern part of the Seattle metropolitan area, and a 3 hour drive from Portland Oregon. I am very excited about this, partly because a lot of former Wizkids employees still live near Seattle (Wizkids’ headquarters when they produced Pirates was in Bellevue WA, which is next to S…[Read more]

Reading to get an understanding of what I have left to work with for my factions. Not looking good for anyone other than the Pirates and Cursed, though the Vikings and Corsairs getting HT’s will certainly make things interesting, along with the UT clarifications.
Heh, the point total at the end put a smile on my face. The technical grand total of 10,638 is more than the grand total for CoEC 22, but the 22 game beats out the 9,434 total this game had at the time of the BR and before my next turn.

Nice! Still flabbergasted that you managed to play a physical game with that many points. O_O Though CG4 did break the record in 2021, so in between CTO and CoEC22. 🙂
I can all but guarantee that during this round of turns, CG4 will re-establish itself as the all-time official record. XD
Ben-
For certain. I’m beginning the Spanish turn.

Ahoy Attila! Thank you for the kind words!
What is “civ. war”? Crimson Coast and Barbary Coast are some of the best sets, especially CC as you said. I would buy 8 or 10 packs to start so you can each have 4 or 5. 😀 I hope you love the game!

Ben replied to the topic Rules for thought #46 – Changes to the Boarding mechanic in the forum Pirates CSG 5 years, 1 month ago
Basically anytime a ship is about to be rammed the opponent may roll 1 d6. If the die roll is higher than the number of masts their ship starts with (e.g. a 2 master must roll higher than a 2) the ship receives no ram damage and the ramming ship is not pinned but both ships remain touching.
It will definitely make smaller ships better, but I feel…[Read more]

I suspect it’s a game balance issue, it gives the smaller ships a slight chance against the bigger ones, especially in swarm fleets.
But it works against smaller ships more so than against big ones. Ram damage is one of the biggest reasons small ships aren’t always viable – one ram can dismast a 1 master. Eliminate that, and various crappy 1 mas…[Read more]

From this post last year: (emphasis added in both quotes)
If you had an extra/second action available you could use that to attempt to get unstuck on the same turn you were tangled, or you could use your normal first action to make the attempt and then use the extra/second action to do whatever you want with it.
That makes perfect sense to me…[Read more]

-In certain rare situations it is possible for a ship to occupy the exact same position as an iceberg. When this occurs, the ship loses one mast as normal. If the ship moves first it must move entirely off of the iceberg if possible; if the iceberg moves first, the ship remains in place and does not move with the iceberg. In either case, the s…

I have a multi-layered vision of how to make boarding more viable, or at least more reasonable. Changes:
1. No ram damage
2. No pinning
3. Let the winners of boarding parties choose whether to take OR eliminate a treasure OR equipment, or eliminate a crew. The winner chooses which treasure or equipment is stolen or eliminated, but the loser c…[Read more]

Ben commented on the post, FINALLY Playing a Game with the Bowen Brothers! July 13th, 2021 5 years, 1 month ago
Yeah someday! XD
I think I’d have trouble jumping into CoEC – the sheer volume of crew combinations to learn and existing strategic elements to understand would take a time commitment. It’s a good lesson for why people will probably be too intimidated to guest play turns in the Caribbean and World games once those eventually continue/start. - Load More
