I do think that putting the faction affiliation for each and every game piece is ideal.  Until the end of the post I didn’t know what faction any of them were.  I think the Coastal Ranger’s ability could be switched to non-Pirate.

The Rye is physically a galley, but lacks the Keyword. Would that technically make her not a galley and therefore able to ram other ships?

That’s something I’ve never understood properly; I just play them as they look to avoid confusion and wondering which have the keyword and which don’t.  The Code has some info on page 16.

I’ve been nearly all kinds of players at various points over the years.  I think you and I are two of the only people to play that can say “all of the above”.  🙂   With enough sheer volume of games it’s nearly inevitable.

HMS Rye isn’t nearly as good offensively as the Hessian because as a galley she can’t do damage by ramming and her cannon isn’t accurate, but the Rye is still quite nasty for a 1 master.  My ideal setup for her (especially in campaign games) is helmsman, shipwright, oarsman.  This allows her to move at a blazing speed of 4S, repair her lone mast (…[Read more]

New site post about Pirates CSG all time records!

This thread has given me the motivation to make the Cursed pieces from my custom set as horrifying as possible, so thanks for starting this discussion, Ben.

Cool!  The Executioner is definitely one of the nastiest.  The Cursed are the most numerous faction in my fantasy custom set.  Feel free to share your new customs in the prominent thread here.

Sounds good; in that case I think 4 points would be good.

Normally Pirates get discounts on crew and whatnot, I would say this is one exception where he should cost more than the sum of his abilities.

Did something go wrong with Event costs?

Yup, Wizkids massively underpriced many of them.  XD  I guess I’m overcorrecting, but I can’t help it.  I’m fine if people want to make their own recostings or edit mine for their own usage.  I just hate certain events too much to not make them obsolete, because I feel that they should never have existed.

@JW: I like the Neverland and would love to use her.  Given the costs of the Intrepid (15 points for a better gunship) and others, I think the cost is fine.

I wasn’t thinking about customs when I posted it, but go ahead.  Makes it pretty easy to have a lot of nasty flavor text; some of mine is arguably offensive, but that’s what you get with a faction like The Cursed….
