I don’t think I’ve allowed factions to suddenly show up; I will have to try that…
It’s definitely not great for parity or rules, more for the narrative element. Nowadays I generally prefer to play campaign games 100% “by the book” (rules and custom rules), without random personal elements thrown in. It’s fun to try a few times though!

Ben started the topic No Sails Fleet Challenge in the forum Pirates CSG 2 years, 9 months ago
The Challenge: Make a 70 point fleet using ONLY game pieces that have no sails. This means that the vast majority of game pieces considered “ships” cannot be used in fleets. It will likely be almost exclusively fleets of sea creatures, submarines, flotillas, etc. If a game piece has an “alternative” material used as sails (such as skin sails o…[Read more]

To reduce spam from bots and nefarious actors, a new member’s first forum post must be approved by me. This is why you may not see your first post appear immediately; it goes into a queue where I will review it and likely approve it. Once a user has their first forum post approved, subsequent posts they make should appear on the forum right away…[Read more]

Welcome aboard matey!
I think I love this game because it’s theme, it’s very adaptable (can add or remove rules to make it more simple or complex), gives a high degree of freedom (I can add or change rules and the game keeps working) and can be really fun to play.
Love this! I agree completely. It can be a very “modular” game.
(sometimes I like…

Who rolls the d6 for the ability of Paradis de la Mer, the fort controller or the player shooting at it?
“The first time this fort is shot at each turn, roll a d6. The result is the number of times this fort must be hit that turn before any of its cannons can be eliminated.”
I also think the Pirate Code entry about it is a bit confusing – the…[Read more]

This is informal – feel free to submit your own favorite contributions from 2023! 2022 version for reference
These are my favorites from what I’ve done:
Fleet of the Year: For a fleet I created, I’d probably go with the SACCing Fivers fleet I used back in April, but also really enjoyed using Woelf’s Denial of Service Attack fleet (in Tampa) an…[Read more]

Ben replied to the topic PSA: Consider making scans/high quality pictures of cards before punching them in the forum Pirates CSG 2 years, 9 months ago
Here is the new home for the Scan Project. Going forward, I will be the primary point of contact and steward for it. The Submission Guide remains the same. The Master Scan List has been updated, but there may be some errors. My tentative plan is to update the Master Scan List at least once per quarter. There are still some cards we need scans of…[Read more]

Might be a bit of an odd question, and/or a tough one to answer:
What is your favorite treasure distribution? (standard 8 coins for 15 gold, or otherwise)
Ex: 7,7,1 and 5 specific UT’s, or seven 2’s and a 1, etc.

Given that, could the point cost come down if I don’t give it a range extender?
I personally think so. I do think the ability will come into play often enough to be useful, but it still doesn’t feel like more than a 10-11 point ship.
Shuri looks like a fun scout hybrid!

Grand Boulder is somewhat powerful, though I still think Repeating Guns should be a cheaper keyword. I know I’m a bad example, but I would almost never get to benefit from it. XD
Based on her flavor text, I think an alternate ability could work too: +1 to cannon rolls when she is given a shoot action (rather than shooting in general, which will…[Read more]

If an L-mover forces a ship onto a whirlpool, which player decides if that ship goes through and where it ends up? (the moving player or the original controller?)
“Give this ship a move action but do not move her. Instead, roll a d6. On a result of 5 or 6, move an enemy ship L in any direction.”
