Ok, now it’s clear.
Thanks!
August 4, 2020 at 9:32 PM #11630BenKeymasterOnce per turn when this ship hits an enemy ship, also eliminate one crew from that ship.
The ability shown above is 3 Points
But it’s not. It’s 2 points.
August 5, 2020 at 11:57 AM #11638Ochobrazo2298ParticipantThanks for that @Ben, why I thought it was 3 Points is because Cargo Wrecking is 4 Points.
Also I just took apart my Valeroso and matched it up to some non-mega cards and it could have been fitted into three normal-sized cards.
and last but not least @Ben, have you ever tried putting the shell on the Titan Crabs the other way?
Because I’ve seen it on the instructions and have always put the shell the other way.
August 5, 2020 at 12:07 PM #11639Ochobrazo2298ParticipantJust curious, how many of you Privateers other than @Ben have SR Packs?
and at that witch ones?
I just have the RV SR 😀
August 5, 2020 at 5:22 PM #11640BenKeymasterand last but not least @Ben, have you ever tried putting the shell on the Titan Crabs the other way?
I’ve done it both ways at this point. I think I like it better the “wrong” way at this point because it makes more sense to me. I also seem to remember it not working as well from a constructible standpoint but I can’t remember which way.
August 8, 2020 at 9:50 PM #11678JackParticipantWhat’s the most unlikely string of luck you’ve had in a game? I just had one where I got an extra action off of Admiral Morgan 6-7 times in a row, with no re-rollers. And I still lost lol.

O_O Nice.
Just this past turn in CG4, both the Pirates AND The Cursed got 6’s on their first roll attempts for an ability. Sure only 2 rolls, but the magnitude of those rolls… beyond belief. XD
I’m more prone to getting strings of bad luck. In Economy Edition, the Black Mamba shot 0/6 including three 1’s to dismast herself without doing any damage to an enemy ship.
My 10 masters were AWFUL in the first games I used them in. The Baochuan went 7/20 in a double action in a massive deathmatch despite having World Hater Chang Pao aboard. This was only a few days after her and the Shui Xian combined to go 2/13 in a single turn of my RISK game. Including HMS Grand Temple, famous junk ships seem to struggle mightily when they’re first introduced to my fleet. We might see how some of my custom 10’s fare in CG4….
Most recently, the Monkey’s Paw shot horribly in Command the Oceans. With all 3L’s you’d expect about 50% accuracy, especially with the number of shots she was able to make in that game. She missed constantly and I wouldn’t be surprised if her accuracy in that game sat in the 20-33% range.

It’s in reference to cannofury’s Economy Edition rules.
August 14, 2020 at 11:05 AM #11731Ochobrazo2298ParticipantThanks @Ben!
Also I just last night came up with a terrain type that is a cave.
Caves are built into islands and available to sail through, and you have to give an explore action to move through it.
The turn after exploring the cave, you place your ship at the entrance of any other cave in play.
No negative effects are gained by going through the caves.
But if you want to go through the cave in one turn, then you have to have an Explorer and a Firepot Specialist.
The specialist lights the way through the cave! 😀

costs only 3 points not 4 ?
😉 save the point
August 16, 2020 at 3:54 PM #11757Ochobrazo2298ParticipantHey, Everyone!
I just found this ships lot on ebay and it has the Revenant, some cool 3D islands and pretty much the whole set of spanish main.
I’m looking at you mainly, @Lukas
August 17, 2020 at 5:21 PM #11798Ochobrazo2298ParticipantAugust 17, 2020 at 5:41 PM #11799LukasParticipantit looks nice 🙂
but i got the most ships and did some custom islands in wood by myself
i also try to make a 4 master in wood
August 17, 2020 at 7:42 PM #11800JackParticipantWhat are the best English 5 masters? Seems to me they peaked in SM with Titan and Lord Algernon. Goliath is okay. Cheap. Dreadnought is potentially super powerful but basically too expensive (and slow) to play. Swallow is very good.

Here is my Top 10 English gunships. HMS Titan was an early peak, but the Endeavour is up there with the best of them. HMS Victoria, HMS Dauntless and the Apollos are good. The Aberdeen Baron is also a nice cargo ship.
August 18, 2020 at 1:05 AM #11804JackParticipantNo love at all for the Dreadnought? I suppose it’s just too expensive.
Just bought a bunch of SM packs. Hoping for one of the five masters in there and not too many repeats. Really don’t need a third Leicester…

I like the ship, but you asked for the best English 5 masters. I assume you’re mostly talking about regular games, and in those she’s too slow and expensive to match up well with most of the great English 5’s. RotF Griffin (LE) would be a nice match; with him and MI Hermione Gold and a helmsman aboard, she could move S+S+S with those “eternal cannons” essentially at 1L.
In a campaign game she can really shine!
August 18, 2020 at 12:40 PM #11818XerecsModeratorCould you possibly do a video of your custom stuff on youtube?
I’ve wanted to do a video about the custom stuff I’ve made, but haven’t gotten decent footage for it yet.
I have made a tutorial about my general process for making the islands I make. However, I’m thinking of re-making it, since the first video has issues.
August 18, 2020 at 1:26 PM #11819Ochobrazo2298ParticipantI think that the HMS Endeavour and the HMS Dauntless are pretty good for war but a think my favorite is the HMS Swallow.
August 18, 2020 at 6:27 PM #11820Ochobrazo2298ParticipantHey Privateers!
I Just MADE MY OWN Ochobrazo!
So how I did it was I Outlined on to polystyrene Terrox’s card with a pencil then, I cut the pieces out assembled the pieces into the mighty Ochobrazo!
and also I did the stats on a mega-card that the Pieces were cut out of.
So Ha! I Made One!
August 27, 2020 at 1:04 PM #11367Ochobrazo2298ParticipantI just got my first Scavenger Pack and Plunder Pack for my birthday and they contained: (Scavenger) Valeroso, Akua Lapu, Rook’s folly, L’épée de L’ange, Nene-Nui, HMS Lucy’s Luck, Spanish Native Canoes, Splinter, HMS Ram, Gold eagle, Hancock, Master Bianco, Dr. Richard Scott/Lenoir, Dominic Freda/Griffin, Cargo Master(AM), Navigator(BR), Musketeer(FR), Explorer(PIR), And Celestine’s Charts. (Plunder) Delusion/Fitzgerald, Skipping Stone, Ghost Walker, Pioneer, Lady Newport, HMS Sea Phoenix, El Algeciras, Cat’s Claw, Sea Rat, Proud Tortoise, Cavendish/Musketeer, Master CPO Charles Richard/Cannoneer, Crimson Angel. And I Can’t remember the rest of the PP, But the point is Iv’e had a lot of fun with the Akua Lapu.
August 27, 2020 at 7:17 PM #11927JackParticipant@woelf I have a hunch that “eliminate a cargo” abilities usually meant just treasure, not treasure or crew. Every crew killer ability I can think of is only once per turn, so if cargo killer abilities were always meant to affect crew as well as treasure, I would assume they also would have gotten a OPT, no? Similar to what you said about Hidden Cove initially being a previously explored island and getting changed along the line. Is that at all possible? Otherwise, any particular reason why the cargo killer ability was made so much stronger?

There are a number of things throughout the game where the original definitions were ambiguous and had to be clarified/revised later, but “cargo” isn’t one of them. WK was always very specific about the distinction between crew and treasure, and how they were collectively considered cargo.
The standard cargo killers are a lot more powerful than the the once-per-turn crew killers, but they also cost twice as much (or more), so you do have to pay extra for what you get. There might be an argument to be made for adjusting the relative point costs of each type to make them more distinct, but I think they each fit pretty well where they are.
September 3, 2020 at 7:27 PM #11941JackParticipantIs there any link in the game as worthless as Benito de Soto and El Tejon? You can’t even use them together without Jonah! Wth??
September 3, 2020 at 7:42 PM #11943BenKeymasterIs there any link in the game as worthless as Benito de Soto and El Tejon? You can’t even use them together without Jonah! Wth??
It’s a disaster with them. Also a great example of why Reverse Captain should have costed 2 points – it’s not as useful as Captain. If that were the case, Benito would be 5 points, allowing a helmsman on the Tejon (which you want for that ship anyway) and the link would allow for a coin at some point in the game. Instead, to use the link you have to pay 16 points for a ship moving L that is fragile with no space for any treasure. (and Jonah can only benefit Benito, whereas normally you use Jonah to put a ton of crew on a ship with a lot of cargo)
September 3, 2020 at 8:10 PM #11944JackParticipantI’ve house ruled my DJC ability as meaning I can move, then shoot and move again as free actions. That seems fair at 9 points, but doesn’t work here obviously. Considering Benito de Soto to be worth 5 sounds fair. I’d love to use him as the real de Soto was such a notorious pirate. Wouldn’t be all that big of a stretch, cause I let my brother use The Unblinking 99 at 1 point already.
September 4, 2020 at 10:40 AM #11952Ochobrazo2298ParticipantYeah @Jack, I totally agree that Benito should be 5-6 points and I love that your using fear as 1 point!
I find it outrageous that WK priced fear at 6 points. In fact Eternal is 2 points and that’s why Beastie (POTC) is 22 points and if you compare Beastie and Ochobrazo you’ll notice they have almost identical stats like; Cannons and Movement but the only thing not matching up is the abilities.
Beastie has Eternal which is 2 points whereas Ochobrazo has fear which is usually 6 or 2 points but they gave him Fear for an outrageous 7 points considering he is 27 points.
Also they gave Pestilence(ROTF) Fear for 7 Points and how I figured that out is I compared Crusher And Pestilence. You’ll Figure It Out 😀

September 4, 2020 at 3:40 PM #11960BartekParticipantFear is extremely over priced.
You cannot make a good fleet with it. A good idea is to make fear work on like 3+, with 3-4 being the current 5, and 5-6 being the current 6 roll.
Right now it’s pretty useless unless you’re playing more then 1 opponent, and you can have fear affect more then 1 ship.
