I particularly have a near fetish for everything nautical, resulting in a number of my tattoos, jewelry, and home décor being very “piratey”.
@commodore-starbuck: Nice, makes sense that this game is perfect for you then!

Unfortunately due to life trials, my collection was stolen and lost, and I forgot about the game as life went on.
Someone out there doing some real pirating! O_O
was crestfallen to learn that WizKids went down into the Drink, and are in the firm clutches of none other than Davy Jones himself.
What a great way to put it! XD

They may not go over the point limit of the ship, but they do go over the point limit of the fleet. 60 points is a lot more common than 68 lol.
That’s not how Jonah works. Page 36: “These abilities do not allow you to exceed the build limit of a game. They have no effect until placed on a ship during setup, which first occurs after building y…[Read more]

Island Placement Strategic Meta
Island Placement Strategic Meta Lately I’ve been thinking about some rabbitContinue reading→-
Throw Mysterious Islands and things like Great Turtles into the mix for even more strategizing.
If you bring 3 Great Turtle islands and none of them are chosen as a home island…. If you plan for it by bringing a set of canoes you can move an island closer to you by sacrificing all of the canoes actions to potentially move the Turtle Sx5 That would more than get it in range of one of your ships. At that point you just need to be able to move S+S+S or equivalent to reach the Turtle island.

Great points! I may add to this post someday with additional discussion on MI and Great Turtle “meta” strategies, but preferably after playing with it. I can’t remember having used the full official island placement and HI selection rules with MI’s, especially not on a strategic level where you select specific MI’s after determining who goes first. And I only semi-recently got my first great turtles, so I’ve barely used those in general sadly.
You could even fit 2 or 3 sets of native canoes into a 40 point fleet and start moving multiple islands, especially if your opponent brings great turtles as well. Definitely lots of wild and intriguing possibilities. I think someday I may also need to try my hand at developing fleets based on island selection, such as fleets optimized for MI’s and great turtles. Very wild how deep the meta rabbit holes go….

Do you guys ever run into resealed packs? I played a lot of MTG and that is a real problem on the second-hand market. I am wondering if it is a problem for Pirates as well.
I don’t think I have. There have been some reports of it, mainly involving CCGCastle which is why they’re at the bottom of my list now.

When I met up with Tiffany on Saturday, I asked her if the set release schedule (~3 sets per year) was based on marketing/profit expectations, or if that release would be too much too soon. She said it was based on a sales schedule that mass market stores (like Walmart and Target) wanted. (I think they wanted new product every so often)

Close game! I thought you might be able to pull out a victory but alas. Interesting idea, instead of a submerged ocean, an ocean at a higher elevation…..

Very good. I meany more along the lines of how to spot a deal if you’re someone who isn’t up to date with the current market.
My perspective is way out of whack because I collected mostly during what looks now to be a “golden age” from 2011-2014 when prices were way lower and crazy amazing deals could be had rather often. Now it’s a lot hard…[Read more]
