About to go LIVE with Tiffany O’Brien on the podcast!
Ben commented on the post, Fire and Steel – Mini Set Review 7 years, 2 months ago

@Mohammad: Exactly right! Not too old compared to some, but not “current” unfortunately as a collectible game. F&S was underwhelming, but every set has usable game pieces. Some of my favorites from F&S are the San Pedro and Skin Flayer.

I definitely want to be honest in my reviews, because there are enough other people in the Pirates CSG…[Read more]

Few quick things:
- I apologize for any mistakes in the Master Spreadsheet. I have noticed a minor error about once a month, and I know it’s annoying. I wanted to get it out as quickly as possible last year, so some of the stuff copied from the original Wizkids spreadsheets or from MT may be missing things. As always, let me know if you fi…

Ben started the topic Rules for Thought #38 – Making Shipwrights build Ships! in the forum Pirates CSG 7 years, 2 months ago

Now that the Rules survey has some results (44 responses as of this post), I think it would be a good idea to discuss some various options in detail. I’ve been thinking of various house rules for specific crew abilities, which I’ll release as separate threads.

Shipwrights on home island: allow you to launch ships with the same number of masts…[Read more]

Interesting. In a non-campaign game this might be broken, since you could pump all of you points into a few fast ships, and then use this to crew them up as the game goes on.

I think a lot of standard games are too fast-moving and end too quickly for that to be a good strategy, but in a game with a lot of coins available, perhaps more relevant.

I…

Today (5/31/2016) is the 10th anniversary of the release of Davy Jones’ Curse!

Xerecs and I played a game on the VASSAL module to commemorate the occasion (though it was played about a week in advance).

The […]

A 150 point game has been played! This was a new record high build total for my opponent.

He rolled to go first, using a Cursed American fleet. He used some new ships, such as the Poor Adams, Locker and Pyre. […]

Three games were played using Cadet-Captain Mike’s Random Pirates Set-Up Tables.

Game 1: 24 points for ships, all crew free

The Americans used the Grampus and USS Sea Tiger, while the Spanish […]

A year after the first one, a second “Other Worlds” game has been played! My opponent was different, but the setup remained quite similar. The fleets were 100 points instead of 80. For a change, the winner of the […]

Not using the WK system, or at least a close approximation, does make evaluating some customs difficult, but regardless I do look forward to seeing what you do with the re-costed set.

I think I posted it in another thread so I think you know this, but I’m going to do a recosting of all the Wizkids sets, not either of my custom sets. (which might…[Read more]

@MagExpress: I think the Moonlight is fairly costed. She seems like a solid hybrid I would try to use. If you want to adjust the cost I think 15 points would be fair as well.

HUZZAH!!!! I am now ranking #1 in google search for “Pirates CSG”!! This has been a goal of mine for a while now, and I was hoping to get there by the end of the summer or fall. I’m ahead of Wikipedia, BGG, eBay, everything (obviously if MT was still afloat it might be impossible to dislodge). Just checked in Incognito mode too to make sur…[Read more]
