What are your newest additions to your fleet?
My wallet is a little mad at me right now as I just ordered 2 Mysterious Islands and 4 Barbary Corsair packs. I’m really hoping to finally pull Janissaries’ Blood, Carthage, Nubian Prince, or a named Corsair crew out of the Corsairs pack. I’m just after submarines and Ex-Patriots in Mysterious Islands. Should get them in a week or two!
Just acquired a couple French pieces I need for a fleet I’m planning out. I got Paradis de la Mer, Libellule, Le Soleil Royal, and I’ll be getting the Bon Marin soon.
I have big plans for a couple fleets, including the Spanish one I posted a couple days ago. I’m planning an English one, another French fleet, a couple Barbary ones, and a pirate fleet.
It’s really fun to come up with ship combos and just building fleets!
I also have a copy of Le Bon Marin on the way 🙂
Looking to match a Marine-focused French fleet vs a Corsair fleet soon. Really hoping I get something that lets my Corsairs attack better.
I see you’re pining for the Jannisarie’s Blood. She’s amazing for what she does, I’m going to put a Smokepot and Murat on her along with a captain and maybe a helmsman or a firepot. That’ll make her incredibly maneuverable and deadly, on top of being able to use Smokepot tricks to make getting to her difficult. Her reverse captain ability allows her to broadside someone with 3 cannons, maybe shoot a firepot, and then use the Smokepot to move into the newly created fog bank and become invisible.
For the French fleet, I’m using a couple oarsmen on the Soleil with Arathiel to make it extra deadly, and I’m hitching the Mont Blanc to the Bonne Chance for a sweet 7 guns moving at SSS. I’m really excited to try this fleet out!
I recently bought 40 or so packs, and managed to pull a dutchman, the endeavour, HMS grand temple, La Soleil, and Lord Algernon. Among other neat pulls
Not the best results out of the MI packs. I was hoping for a sub and some Ex-pats. I managed to get one Ex-Pat, Osvaldo de Deus Clemente, who is one of the “Captain, Broadsides Attack” crew. No subs.
I pulled L’Aube which will probably be a staple in my French fleets as well as the neat Periscope UT. Tombstone, Duncan, and HMS Iron Prince round it out. All underwhelming.
Le Bon Marin arrived, so expect a French fleet based around Marines soon. I’ll consider these purchases worth it if I get a new 4-mast Corsair ship or Barbarossa in the Corsair packs.
UPDATE: My copy of Bon Marin is misprinted!! The holes for the port hull are a few millimeters closer to the center than they should be, so I’m not sure if the hull will fit.
HMS Grand Temple is really neat. Only 6-master I own is Grand Mountain which is probably the worst one.

No kidding! I’ve been in that stage many times throughout my pirating career. XD For now I’m pretty satisfied with my 117+ fleets submitted at MT.

@Sneakster: Nice pulls, 40 packs is a lot!@Jack: Yeah, MI is kind of disappointing in general IMO.

Perhaps you can file the deck or hull in order to make it work.

You could make the case that she’s better than the Grand Wind and Grand Dynasty, but those are definitely the bottom 3. If you get sick of the GM, feel free to proxy one of my many custom 6 masters from Pirates of the Epic Seas. (21 for the Jades alone!) 🙂
I think I have more fun opening the packs than playing the game. It’s so much fun to open a pack not knowing what’s inside. I know OE is sub par gameplay wise but the sheer variety of types of ships makes it fun to open. I get so excited whenever I pull a sea monster or some other weird thing!
My Barbary Coast packs had a lot of stuff I already own, which I kind of expected, but were worth it.
I pulled myself twice, with two BC Jack Hawkins, which will help out my Corsair fleets a lot. I also got Algiers back, which I’d broken a long time ago, as well as the Poseidon’s Breath UT. Wicked Kareen, Whisper, and Marrakesh are all decent ships I didn’t already have.
I also got First Mate Ismail and Admiral Robert Blake to help out an England collection that is really lacking for strong English named crew.
Repeats were Concord, Bey’s Revenge, Agha’s Whip, and Duque Marques Vaccaro.
I ordered Silver Dagger, Monsieur LeNoir (CC) and Uluj Ali online.
Silver Dagger is a nostalgia piece, as it was one of my first ships as well as one of the first to break. I love its effect and flavor text. I think the game would have benefited from more effects/mechanics like Dagger’s, it makes the game feel more realistic. Also its flavor text is one of very few references to the Dutch in the game. Still bummed they were never an official nation.
LeNoir being a point more than normal for cancellers is a pain but yay for more French options.
Marines are bad but I’m always after more Barbary Corsair crew and Ali was cheap.

Agreed on both. It’s fun to figure out max base moves for some of those seemingly slow ships. The problem is they tank quickly as soon as they’re in combat.

True for the F&S version at 4 points, but the standard cost of canceller crew is 5 points. They’d still be amazing at 6-8 points, so F&S Lenoir is the oddity and sort of OP.
Big score today, gentlemen! Today I got the Akua Lapu, Le Bon Marin, the American native canoes, the Tiger’s Eye, Raven, Hermione Gold, Cannonball Gallows, and the Mont Blanc. The crowning achievement of this pull is the Spanish Morning Star, which I immediately assembled. I’m super excited to use it, it’s a fantastic and beautiful ship that will bring great honor and gold to my Spanish Rebels.

Just got my 4 OE Value packs in with the 4 different SE pre-builts was a couple nice surprises in them. First box I opened was the ship with the most parts ‘fallen off’ managed to fish all the missing parts except for the black pennant on top out of the box, not only was the pennant missing but 024 Pioneer was missing the whole rear mast off the punch card… Drat indeed. However when I opened the next box which had a ship that had red pennants… it had the missing black pennant in the sealed box.. WTF? lol. Had some decent pulls for those next two boxes, but on the last box with Seattle in it I pulled the 3 SR cards like woot and stuff, although why would a generic captain card be a super rare? That is quite lame. 🙂
Next month I am going to buy a small pile of OE megas from hills and try to get the other 3 big cards I need.

The OE SR pack is rightly derided as the worst ever by a wide margin. They had some other generic SR’s, though I agree that they could have done a lot better in that regard, even if they just made an existing named crew the SR instead. (or better yet have an additional named crew in those sets rather than a generic)

Makes me wonder if Wizkids was still making this stuff, if someone could mail them proof of the mistake and try to get an SR pack out of it. XD
I hope that the insert wasn’t the first thing they saw otherwise they must have been terribly disappointed.

@uadoom: Wow, other than the Ghost Walker and the helmsmen, that’s kind of a rough pack for play purposes. I find it sad that there can be duplicates (let alone double!) inside of the same mega pack….
The cool thing is the nightmare is a common, so I built one of them for my daughter. Depending what I get from the SE boxes, I might go with another set like revolution to get more american ships.
As I await the arrival of my set of special edition OE boxes, I went on a shopping spree for some american ships that are outside the OE, RV, BC packs I want. I picked up the following:

Been pulling some extra hours at work and have just got together a relyable play group who all draw from my collection. I decided I’d bolster it with a trips to hills wholesale gaming. Bought two displays from rise of fiends and fire and steel (I already have too much OE, DC and RV) and 3 special tins, I’ll share any good finds when they arrive!
@uadoom: Nice! The Pawtucket was involved in my latest game. Good ships overall, the Paul Revere is one of my favorites.
@Countupyourcoyne: Sounds like a large influx of ships! One of the things I miss about being mostly complete (at least with stuff from packs) is the thrill of the hunt and opening packs to get stuff I don’t already have.@Ben definately fun even as my collection gets close to complete. I recently actually went through most of my sets and was able to calculate how close I was (minus SM, CC, SS cause I didn’t have their checklists). This is where I am
