Activity – Ben – Pirates with Ben

With the fall approaching I’ve started playing with my regular play partner once again! Our first game back was a simple affair, played on the sidelines of a super-casual game night. This led to some interruptions […]

I have OE #049 HMS Clear Wind 1/2 and #077 L’Afrique 2/2

Looked last night and I actually don’t have either of these.

Historical Fantasy Scenario Flashback Battle
This is not a regular battle report. Instead, it’s a “flashback” of sorts. I finally got around to doing a Historical Fantasy Scenario (HFS) battle, the first since […]

Here’s a topic I’ve been pondering for a while: what game pieces that you think should be easily obtainable have otherwise evaded your grasp? I’m definitely not talking about LE’s, promos, or anything from SCS here, but rather commons and uncommons that you’d find in a set like Ocean’s Edge or Spanish Main.

Great topic idea!

I’ve had a bunch ove…[Read more]

My username here is the same as previous to MT; a pirate-ified version of my initials.

Great to have you back aboard; kinda nostalgic for me! 😀 Thank you for the kind words! It was great to trade with such a veteran of the game.

Woelf is in Wisconsin too!

Edit: Just made the post!

I played a game on 7/5/2016 with Aaron in Singapore. It was his first game of Pirates ever!

He used woelf’s Spanish SM fleet while I used my recent SM English fleet. He wanted a quick and simple game since […]

at the very least it should look completely different so there’s no chance for confusion.

Indeed, you make great points, thanks for the feedback!

Ben replied to the topic Relaunch idea – Packs could contain only 1 faction. in the forum Pirates CSG 7 years, 2 months ago

I’m just worried that things could trend toward SCS levels of rarity and scarcity very quickly, with a certain faction getting pieces and all that, but not being distributed as much as the other factions in the set.

Good point; it might be tricky to ensure that things would be fair.

Single nation packs would kill the “game in every pack” marke…

Does this only link to ships that are naturally Cursed, or does it also work on ships converted by Black Mark?

To me it makes sense that it would work on ships converted via Black Mark.

Then, in the artwork, the sails and/or deck can be shown to be on fire.

Disappointing but makes sense.

Relaunch idea – regular booster packs with random factions in them, but every ship/crew in the pack is of the same faction. (including generic crew 4 to a card)

I think this would help with starting fleets and with getting crew that match the nationality of the ships you have. Not sure if collation/stuffing the packs would be more expensive (or…[Read more]

I am assuming that it would be scuttled at the start of the turn after the two non fire masts were eliminated?

Great question. I suppose that would have to happen, though I might change the ability text so it doesn’t. As I’ve thought about before, if custom game pieces saw more widespread usage, I think we would have to collaborate on a “…[Read more]
