The idea of making a Pirates CSG named crew based on someone from the online community was the topic of some of my first posts on Miniature Trading. I don’t have time to make any right now but at least now the thread is out there. (if you make any, no drama please)
December 17, 2019 at 10:54 PM #10560XerecsModeratorThis one is kind of in jest, I might make a more serious version later, with some compatriots. 😀
JW Darkhurst
Points: 11
American
Ability: Explorer. When this ship rolls a 1 for any die roll, give this ships controller 1 gold from outside the game.Flavor: The fun and music loving JW believes he is cursed. Nothing but bad luck seems to come his way, or so he claims. Despite his many arguments for this, the Admiralty does not seriously consider his claims and believes that JW only sees the negatives of a given situation.
December 17, 2019 at 10:59 PM #10561Jonathan BowenParticipantI’d be rolling in riches before the halfway point in the game XD
You’re next for a spoof crew, Xerecs >:3-Darkhurst
December 18, 2019 at 12:28 AM #10562Jonathan BowenParticipantI am a man of my word: prepare for some serious joking around ?
Lord Xerecs, the Sentinel
Points:
Ability: Privateer. Sac. UPS. This ship ignores the first hit she takes each turn so long as she has all of her masts.
Faction Affiliation: PirateFlavor: A Pirate Lord with more pride and attitude than any before, Xerecs uses those beneath him to get what he wants. Hiring from and working for every nation on the sea, there is little that can satisfy this man’s desire for fame and wealth.
( the UPS is the ability of CJS from DPoC minus captain (just to be clear))

December 18, 2019 at 1:48 AM #10563XerecsModeratorhehh, I think the Flavor text is my favorite part. 😀
December 18, 2019 at 1:50 AM #10564Jonathan BowenParticipantIt’s the most accurate part ??
(jk bro)-Darkhurst
December 18, 2019 at 4:09 PM #10565EdParticipantThis is an awesome idea my friends and i have been making custom crew of eachother for a while
December 19, 2019 at 2:41 PM #10568Jonathan BowenParticipantContinuing with some serious tomfoolery!
Admiral Benjamin Fannex
Points: 11
Ability: Captain. Shipwright. Fleet Admiral.
Link: All English Ships
Faction Affiliation: EnglandFlavor: Though not English by birth, Admiral Fannex, Ben to his friends, is a tactical force to be reckoned with. His quick thinking in combat is only rivaled by his background in carpentry and architecture, ensuring that any ship he serves on is both entirely efficient, and elegant.
I’ve got one more to continue this silly thread later ;D
’til next post;
-DarkhurstDecember 27, 2019 at 7:36 PM #10577BenKeymasterNice! I definitely can’t do carpentry or architecture. XD The AA ability is fitting though given my endless strategizing in VASSAL campaign games and how much I’ve used the ability in those same games.
The word “attitude” is subjective in the flavor text for Xerecs’ crew, but I’ve always found him to be an incredibly good sport. The abilities are accurate though, he’s a power gamer. 🙂

I think JW is mostly referring to your vast number of custom ships created when he talks about carpentry and architecture. 😀
I do tend to power game. I think my crew that he made would be around….. 13 points? Maybe more. 😀
December 28, 2019 at 3:16 PM #10582BenKeymasterI think JW is mostly referring to your vast number of custom ships created when he talks about carpentry and architecture.
Ah, that makes more sense. For me it’s more imagination than actual physical work; the carpentry part would apply more to you than me since I haven’t physically made any of my customs.
December 28, 2019 at 3:24 PM #10583Jonathan BowenParticipant@Ben: Yes, architecture and carpentry is a reference to the custom ships you’ve made ?
I don’t think it matters if you haven’t actually made models for them, since they’re still playable on vassal, and they still exist online etc.Since we’re here, let’s get to the last of my User Crew!
Admiral Wulf Skuller
Points: 12
Ability: Fleet Admiral. Once per turn you may give one friendly ship in your fleet +1 to her cannon rolls.
Faction Affiliation: Admin*
Flavor: A master tactician and sailor, Admiral Skuller is known world-wide. Though few have ever met the Admiral, his name is revered, and his word considered law.*(This crew may be assigned to any nation. At the beginning of the game, this crew is placed face up on your HI. It may use its abilities from there as though it were assigned to a ship. It can be eliminated only by a “boarding action” initiated during a Home Island Raid. Both involved players roll a d6; highest number wins.)
And that’s all I’ve got for this thread for now ??
I’ll post again later today in the customs thread to finish off the Spanish from Eldest SeasUntil next post;
-J. W. DarkhurstDecember 30, 2019 at 6:12 PM #10592BenKeymasterHere’s my first attempt at this since possibly 2011… 🙂
Captain Randy
Faction: Pirate
Point Value: 7
Ability: Captain. Reroll. Spanish crew can use their abilities on this ship.
Link: Las VegasFlavor: The leader of a new band of pirates that have mysteriously arrived via a New World desert land, Captain Randy’s enthusiasm is matched by few on the high seas. His generosity allows for some Spaniards to help him out, with luck guiding the way towards victory.
*Reroll is a tribute to the pinball we played. 🙂Las Vegas
Type: Ship
Faction Affiliation: Pirate
Point Value: 18
Number of Masts: 3
Cargo Space: 4
Base Move: S+S
Cannons: 3L-3S-3L
Ability: Broadsides Attack. Once per turn you may eliminate any number of this ship’s crew. For each crew you eliminate, roll a d6. On a 6, you may give any ship in your fleet an extra action. If three or more 6’s are rolled with this ability on the same turn, place a 7 value gold coin from outside the game on your home island.Flavor: The ultimate gamble, Captain Randy’s flagship is the epitome of the all-or-nothing mentality. Supposedly found buried in a desert west of the Mississippi River, the ship’s journey to the sea was nothing short of heroic.
January 2, 2020 at 5:18 PM #10594RandyModerator<p style=”text-align: left;”>This is amazing and getting used asap!!! Hahah!!! Been working on some for a couple of people, but I’ll throw this one out while yr still on break!!</p>
The KeymasterPoint Value: 11
Faction: Pirate
Abilities: Navigator.
Can be used on ships from any nation.
Once per turn if this ship is within S of an island, you may mark the island as explored without docking at it.
Unholy Light: After this ship completes a move action, she can look at all treasure on all islands and ships within L of her
Flavor Text: Ambitious treasure hunters new to the Spanish Main often seek out the fabled “Keymaster of the Seas” for guidance and safe passage through dangerous waters. Sailors are sure to follow the sound of his violin, echoing through the darkness and fog. Rumor has it that The Keymaster can predict, without fail, if an island is rich with treasure just by setting eyes on its shores. Though his exploits are well documented, those he has alluded often wonder if he actually did those things.
January 2, 2020 at 5:21 PM #10597BenKeymaster@Randy: Nice! Very different take on the abilities. Nice flavor text. 🙂 Thanks for making that! Indeed, any day now could be my last “back” online.
January 2, 2020 at 6:02 PM #10599RandyModeratorHahah Yea I wanted to do something more supportive than offensive in honor of the website! I made some for friends from the group as well. Lots of fun!
