    Number of Masts: 2
    Cargo Space: 3

Ability: Mercenary. Submarine. This ship ignores sargasso seas. After this ship completes an action, you may place a sargasso sea from outside the game so that it touches this ship.

Flavor text: Described as a “tin can filled with seaweed”, the Moss Keg is a unique vessel that took a full decade to circumnavigate the globe, the longest recorded voyage of the sort on record.

Hmm. Interesting sub in the Moss Keg. The wording doesn’t specify that the Sargasso can’t be placed such that it touches another ship, so I’m assuming you could use this to place a Sargasso under an enemy, as long as it was still in contact with the Moss Keg.

Actually, looking again, outside of her ability, she doesn’t seem all that impressive. Still, I’d try to find a way to exploit her ability as much as possible.

    Severance
    Faction Affiliation: Cursed
    Rarity: C
    Type: Ship
    Point Value: 13
    Number of Masts: 2
    Cargo Space: 3
    Base Move: S+L
    Cannons: 2S-2S
Ability: Schooner. If this ship touches an enemy derelict with her bow, that ship sinks.

Flavor text: Severance has a bow of metal sharpened to a fine point. She is known to aggressively ram hapless opponents, often cutting their hulls in half. This leads to quick sinkings and no survivors.

Historical Custom of the Day #322

    Bows and Arrows
    Equipment
    1 point
Ability: This ship gains an extra 4L cannon that only eliminates crew and can’t have its range or rank increased. It can shoot from any mast (even an eliminated mast).

Seems I made a mistake somewhere, as there are only 5 pre-built ships. We’ve seen three of them, now I present the final two!

    Tuli
    Ionic
    Points: 11
    Masts: 4
    Cargo: 4
    Movement: L
    Cannons: 3S-4L-4L-3S
Ability: After looking at treasure on a wild island, you may trade any one treasure from that island for a random treasure on any other wild island. This ship must load the traded treasure.

Flavor: The crew of the Tuli are all conscripted shop keeps and traders. Though they are now trained as sailing men, their old professions still lend a hand when they are out on assignment.

    B’Ras
    Ionic
    Points: 16
    Masts: 4
    Cargo: 3
    Movement: S+S
    Cannons: 2S-2S-2S-2S
    Ability: Ghost Ship. Broadsides Attack.

Flavor: The captain of the B’Ras likes to sneak up on his foes, and then unleash his full fury on his victims. His hit and run tactics have led to many rumors that he and his ship are little more than ghosts in the night. The captain sees nothing wrong with these rumors, and actively spreads them himself.

…..and that does for the SE ships, tomorrow we shall begin with the LE pieces, and the end of SpMg.

    Gold Coast
    Faction Affiliation: Barbary Corsair
    Rarity: C
    Type: Fort
    Gold Cost: 8
    Cannons: 3L+L-4L-2S-2S-4L-3L+L
Ability: When a ship unloads gold to this fort, add a 1 coin to the gold unloaded.

Flavor text: Named for the gold mines of South Africa but employed on the North African coast, this fortress has some fine cannons and a reputation for profit. The European “Big Three” of Britain, France, and Spain have all made it one of their primary Corsair targets.

Historical Custom of the Day #324

    Charming Kitty
    Faction Affiliation: English
    Rarity: C
    Type: Ship
    Point Value: 6
    Number of Masts: 2

I’m imagining the Gold Coast in a Jack Sparrow fleet. It seems like wonderful broken fun. 😀 The 3L+L means that the cannon has a L+L range, yes? Just checking to be sure.

The time has come! The first LE piece of the last of SpMg!

    Okoto
    Ionic
    Points: 30
    Masts: 10
    Cargo: 9
    Cannons: 4S-4S-3L-3L-2L-2L-3L-3L-4S-4S
    Movement: L
Ability: Junk. Treasure Ship. Link: Ekimu

Flavor: The floating sanctuary of Ekimu, the Mask Maker. Okoto is not only where he creates his masterpieces, but is also where he lords over all of the Ionic navy as the Grand Admiral.

    Ekimu
    Ionic
    Points: 6
    Ability: Mask Maker. Link: Okoto

Flavor: Ekimu, the Mask Maker, is the Grand Admiral and Supreme Commander of the Ionic Navy. He commands the entire fleet from his sanctuary aboard the Okoto. He has grown tired of the slights and wrongs directed at his people, and is determined to show the world the power of the Ionic people.

Mask Maker: This crew may use his abilities only aboard the Okto.
Once at the beginning of each of your turns roll a d6; on a result of 6, any ship in your fleet may be given two actions that turn.
Once per turn is this ship is within S of an island, you may mark that island as explored without docking at it. The island becomes unexplored in regards to all other players.

    Yup.

    Josiah Brumwell
    Faction Affiliation: American
    Rarity: C
    Type: Crew
    Point Value: 5
Ability: Shipwright. Chainshot Specialist. You may choose to ignore the effects of Unique Treasures that this ship carries [only UT’s that can be loaded].

Flavor text: Brumwell is low on words, but strong in heart. He is constantly looking out for his fellow sailors, and tends to both the ship and nearly everything inside of it, rooting out problems before they can develop. Hardened muscles and two decades in the Navy have served him well.

Historical Custom of the Day #325

    Hello everyone!!
It has been a very long time since I’ve posted on this site ???
But never fear! For I have come back with the first part of the next faction in Pirates: The Seas of Doom!!

    I give you: The Cursed

    But first relevant Keywords
    1. Canceller: Once per turn, one crew or ship within S of this ship cannot use its ability this turn.

    2. Seafloor Traveler: At the beginning of each of you turns decide if this ship is submerged or not. If she is, she cannot ram, be rammed, pin or be pinned, board, be boarded, shoot or be shot at.

    3. Armed Merchant: Once per turn, as a free action, one of this ship’s canons may shoot at one enemy target in range. This shot cannot have its range or rank increased. (A captain crew is not needed for this action)

    4. World-Hater: This ship gets plus one to her cannon rolls against any ship of a different nationality.

    1. Klen
    Points: 30
    Masts: 5
    Cannons: 2S,2S,2S,2S,2S
    Cargo: 4
    Base Move: S+S
    Ability: Canceller. Seafloor Traveler.

Flavor: Her name means Death in a long-dead language; her crew is relentless and craves slaughter; she appears from out of nowhere, emerging from the sea like a harbinger of doom to all who do not fly the Red Skull. She is fury, she is terror, she is Klen.

    2. Bryce Laurence
    Points: 4
Ability: When this ship hits an enemy ship, eliminate one cargo from that ship. For each cannon roll of 1 made for this ship, eliminate one crew from this ship.

Flavor: Laurence is a madman, one of the many servants of the Cursed Empire whose mind is so broken, he cannot be reasoned with by friend or foe. He often kills members of his own crew to satiate his need to end life.

    3. Michael Varus
    Points: 5
Ability: Captain. This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls against American ships.

Flavor: A reanimated American soldier who was left for dead on the Constitution when she was sunk, Varus is merely the embodiment of spite and abandonment, vying to get revenge on the men who left him.

    4. Drej Queen
    Points: 18
    Masts: 4
    Cannons: 2S,2L,2L,2S
    Cargo: 5
    Base Move: L
Ability: This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls against non-Cursed ships
    Link: Captain Cale Tucker

Flavor: The very ship that sacked her own current captain’s childhood port town many years ago, the Drej Queen is more than capable of delivering justice to all who oppose the righteous power of Jones’s ever-expanding empire.

    5. Captain Cale Tucker
    Points: 7
    Ability: Captain. Broadsides Attack.
    Link: Drej Queen

Flavor: His mind poisoned by the power within his grasp, Captain Tucker has forsworn his homeland of America for the corruption of the Cursed Empire.

    6. Tegrin
    Points: 17
    Masts: 5
    Cannons: 4S,3L,3L,3L,4S
    Cargo: 6
    Base Move: S
Ability: Captain. This ship gets +1 to cannon rolls against any ship.

Flavor: Found grounded in the frozen tundra of the arctic, Davy Jones took great care to have the Tegrinmade ready for sail and combat. Slow though she may be, the Tegrin can usually hold her own against most ships she encounters, regardless of her limited crew.

    7. La Alma Rota
    Points: 17
    Masts: 4
    Cannons: 2S,3L,3L,2S
    Cargo: 4
    Base Move: L
Ability: Crew of any nationality may use their abilities on this ship. This ship gets +1 to cannon rolls against Spanish ships.
    Link: Héctor Rivera

Flavor: Despite her depressive name, the “Broken Soul” is often the site of many grand parties and events. Seemingly harmless, sailors approach the vessel and join in the revelry. But they soon find out, that try as they might, they will never leave her alive.

    8. Héctor Rivera
    Points: 8
Ability: If this ship wins a boarding party, she may capture the crew with the highest point cost instead of eliminating it. A captive becomes assigned to this ship, takes up no cargo space, and can use its abilities. The captive cannot leave this ship.
Link: La Música de los Muertos; La Alma Rota

Flavor: After making a deal with Davy Jones to get revenge on a man who betrayed and murdered him, Héctor set sail in search of his family. What he did not know then, was that his deal with Jones would forever keep him from finding them.

    9. La Música de los Muertos
    Points: 15
    Masts: 2
    Cannons: 3L, 3L
    Cargo: 4
    Base Move: S+S
Ability: Armed Merchant. Spanish crew may use their abilities on this ship.
    Link: Héctor Rivera

Flavor: Unlike Rivera’s other ship, the “Music of the Dead” disguises herself as a Spanish trading vessel in order to infiltrate and destroy small groups of royal cargo barges.

    10. Inferno
    Points: 20
    Masts: 4
    Cannons: 2L,2S,2S,2L
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: S+S
Ability: +1 to cannon rolls against any ship
    Link: Dante Alighieri

Flavor: Accurately named, the Inferno is captained by a man who embodies the hatred and suffering of Hell’s darkest levels.

    11. Dante Alighieri
    Points: 9
    Ability: Captain. Helmsman. World-Hater
    Link: Inferno

Flavor: Considering the name of the ship he was set to command, Dante chose to rename himself in honor of the man who first described Hell to mankind.

This concludes the first half of The Cursed from Seas of Doom. (I was gonna release these on Christmas Eve, but family plans, the realization that that would be kinda ironic in a messed-up way, and an unwritten “end blurb” kept that from happening. I’d be terrible at YouTube ??)

Feel free to criticize and respond with your thoughts, just please don’t destroy my fragile, young-adult ego ??? All feedback is welcomed and expected. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns about these pieces.

This took longer to post because I wrote up Flavor Texts for the pieces that I hadn’t written before because I was a derp. ?
So as a heads up, it will be a while until you see me after tomorrow when I hopefully release the second half of The Cursed.

But when you do: España se dará a conocer.

    Until the next post

To distinguish the flavor text from the rest of the ability text, and to help break up the post a little, could you perhaps put it in italics?

I feel the Musica could be a point or two cheaper, 13 instead of 15 maybe.

Klen might still be too cheap at 30….. 0.0

    Josiah Brumwell

    Rarity: C
    Type: Crew
    Point Value: 5
Ability: Shipwright. Chainshot Specialist. You may choose to ignore the effects of Unique Treasures that this ship carries [only UT’s that can be loaded].

This guy would be great for gold runners, and not only American ones if you can squeeze the space. His ability as I see it nullifies plague, Albatross, Runes of Death, just to name a few.

Today’s (tonights? :D) pieces aren’t as flashy as a ten mast, but most certainly are fun! Speaking of a ten, there are two more still to come, but those are for another day. 😀

    Artaka
    Ionic
    Points: 9
Ability: When this ship is docked at your home island you may eliminate two treasures. They become a 2S cannon that may only be eliminated when this ship sinks, and an equipment of your choice.

Flavor: Considered a myth among the Ionic peoples, Artaka is said to be a place of sanctuary and peace. Ruling over this fair land was a being of the same name; that rumor had it, could create magnificent weapons, armor and tools as if from thin air.

    Krahnzi
    Ionic
    Points: 10
Ability: For every ship within S of this ship at the beginning of your turn, roll a d6. On a 1-2 the target ship may not use any ship or crew abilities until the beginning of their next turn. On a 3-4 eliminate all of the target ships masts. On a 5-6 both the effects of 1-2 and 3-4 are applied to the target ship.

Flavor: If everything is to have an opposite, then Krahnzi is the opposite of Artaka. A fabled hell on earth, and like Artaka ruled by a being of the same name; who can peer into the minds of men, and bring their worst nightmares to life.

Tegrin is fun, what a neat ship I would definitely try to use.

I don’t think Krahnzi works. At a minimum I think the rolls should be cut in half (1-3 no effect, 4-6 have effects), it’s a very OP crew. Artaka is cool though. Your 10 master combo is good, but to me it feels too similar to the Baochuan/Zheng He.

    Misty Moor
    Faction Affiliation: French
    Rarity: C
    Type: Fort
    Gold Cost: 5
    Cannons: 3S-3S-4S-4S-4S-4S
Ability: At any time during your turn you may place up to 3 fog banks from outside the game so that they touch this island. They cannot be placed under enemy ships. Eliminate these fog banks at the beginning of your next turn.

Flavor text: Known as a defensive haven for fleeing Frenchmen, the Misty Moor is home to an old dilapidated castle in the center of the island. It is said that spirits control the fog clouds that often envelop the island. Although the castle is in a state of disrepair, the docks work as intended.

Yeah….. I was looking at him again as I posted him. I’m thinking that I’ll loose his ability to eliminate masts, and just keep has cancelling ability. OP he may be, but I’ve worded him such that he would affect friendly ships as well.

Your 10 master combo is good, but to me it feels too similar to the Baochuan/Zheng He.

Well…… That was the point of the Okoto/Ekimu. I didn’t want to be too crazy off the bat. 😀 Speaking of tens though……

    Bone Hunter
    Mercenary
    Points: 26
    Masts: 10
    Cargo: 7
    Cannons: 2S-2S-3L-3L-4L-4L-3L-3L-2S-2S
    Movement: S+S
Ability: Mercenary. Junk. Dories. Link: Fero

Flavor: Commanded by Fero, the Bone Hunter houses a collection of Ionic rebels, exiles, and deserters. All of them bitter and resentful to the Ionics in some way shape or form. Fero has given them an opportunity to vent their frustrations and anger, and maybe make some money along the way.

    Fero
    Mercenary
    Points: 6
    Ability: Ex-Patriot. Hostile: Ionic. EA.

Flavor: Fero attempted to desert from the navy, but was caught and sentenced to hang. However, he escaped from his cell and made his way into the ranks of the mercenaries. Nemo has given him free reign over operations concerning the Ionics. After all, who better to hunt them than one of them?

EA- Once per turn roll a d6. On a 5-6 this ship may be given an extra action.

Hello again, everyone! This still counts as today; I’m not lazy! Not too lazy, anyway….
Regardless! here is the second half of the cursed forces from Seas of Doom!

But, as usual, the relevant Keywords!

    1. Repeating Guns: When this ship is given a shoot action, you may declare that she is using repeating guns. If all cannons hit during that shoot action, each cannon may shoot again. (This action does not count towards the two action limit) For each cannon that misses on its second shot, eliminate one mast or cargo from this ship

    2. Cargo Killer: When this ship his an enemy ship, eliminate a cargo from the enemy ship.

    3. EA: Once per turn, roll a d6. On a 5-6, give this ship an extra action.

    4. World-Hater: This ship gets plus one to her cannon rolls against any ship of a different nationality.

    Now onto the pieces!

    12. Abbadon
    Points: 15
    Masts: 4
    Cannons: 3L,3S,3S,3L
    Cargo: 4
    Base Move: S+S
Ability: Fear. When this ship hits an enemy ship eliminate one cargo from that ship.

Flavor: A mysterious addition to the Empire’s combat fleet, there is something about the Abbadon and her secretive crew that just feels wrong to most sailors, dead or alive. Surely, there’s more to her than meets the eye.

    13. Ravener
    Points: 14
    Masts: 3
    Cannons: 2L,3S,3L
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: S+S
Ability: Fear. If this ship successfully hits an enemy ship with all of her cannons, eliminate an extra mast from that ship

Flavor: The Ravener is no terrifying menace, but her mysterious appearance in the Cursed ranks leads many of Jones’s admirals to believe that she is more powerful than she seems.

    14. Fire Vulture
    Points: 12
    Masts: 3
    Cannons: 3S, 3S, 3S
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: L
    Ability: Bombardier.

Flavor: Captured from an American shipyard, the Fire Vulture will prove to be a new and deadly toy for whoever becomes her captain.

    15. El Ángel de la Muerte
    Points: 24
    Masts: 5
    Cannons: 2L,3S,3S,3S,2L
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: S+S
    Ability: Repeating Guns. Cargo Killer.

Flavor: This galleon was an experimental warship that was trial sailing when she was pulled beneath the waves by numerous massive black tentacles. The firepower that once belonged to the Spanish navy, is now at the beck and call of Davy Jones’s top Admirals.

    16. Crimson Komodo
    Points: 16
    Masts: 4
    Cannons: 3L,3L,3L,3L
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: L
Ability: This ship gets +1 to Fire Shot, Exploding Shot, and Firepot Specialist rolls.

Flavor: Despite his status as a Cursed sailor, the Komodo’s captain does not believe in the mythical monsters of legend. As such, he named his ship after the only real dragon in the world. Except this one does breathe fire.

    17. Maxis Penumbra
    Points: 9
Ability: Captain. Instead of giving this ship an action this turn, you can give another ship in your fleet two actions.
    Link: Spinax

Flavor: When an exiled ionic warrior by the name of Maxis Penumbra joined the ranks of the cursed, no one thought anything of it. Little did they know that Maxis is merely a hollow, soulless body inhabited by the essence of the supposedly dead Shadow King.

    18. Spinax
    Points: 17
    Masts: 3 (jib)
    Cannons: 2L,2L,2L
    Cargo: 2
    Base Move: L+S
Ability: EA. When this ship sinks an enemy ship, you may repair one mast on this ship.
    Link: Maxis Penumbra

Flavor: Named for Maxis’s trusty hound back on his home island, the Spinax is quick and agile, able to unleash her full barrage of firepower one minute, and escape the next.

    19. Grezeble
    Points: 15
    Masts: 3
    Cannons: 3S,3S,3S
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: L
Ability: World-Hater. It this ship is assigned a helmsman crew, she gets +L to her base move instead of +S.

Flavor: Her unusual and meaningless name makes the Grezeble a ship her foes won’t soon forget.

    20. Agramon
    Points: 17
    Masts: 4
    Cannons: 4L,3S,3S,4L
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: L
    Ability: Fear. Canceller.

Flavor: One of three ships that have appeared without influence of Jones, Agramon instills fear in all who stray too close. Even the most heartless fiends in the Cursed war fleet have edged away from this galleon in uncomfortable unease.

And with that, the Cursed from Seas of Doom are complete!
It will take me some time to post again, as I need to write flavor texts because, once again, I am a derp ????

As usual, all feedback is welcomed. Tell me what you think of these pieces and how they may or may not be game-worthy in your opinion, and how they could maybe be improved.

Important info about me on this site in the future:

For future posts, I will likely limit the number if pieces posted to two, maybe three at maximum, so that my posts aren’t just massive “info dumps”, or confusing to read.

Also, from now on, my update posts that contain game pieces will also contain a flavor text for each game piece. I will, therefore, likely have no definitive “Posting Schedule”, but rather will post new pieces whenever I have them. I will try to post once a week with new game piece content or just feedback on a recently-made post on this thread.

Also, also, I will respond to most, if not all, feedback postings as soon as I can, and without the usual greeting and formalities. I do not consider those to be posts, so therefore, I will respond to as much feedback as I can, unless I’m super tired, or I’ve already addressed the issue.

Also, also, also, I will begin posting more “regularly” on the Black Mongoose Tavern Thread with Story Page inserts from Fiends of the Blood Islands (FoBI), and eventually Dark Tides (PoDT) and Seas of Doom (PTSD).

I will likely take a break for New Year’s, and begin posting probably in the second-ish week of January/2019. And since I will not be posting new content tomorrow/Tuesday…

    Happy New Year, Everybody!!!!! ?✨?????✨????????????

    14. Fire Vulture
    Points: 12
    Masts: 3
    Cannons: 3S, 3S, 3S
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: L
    Ability: Bombardier.

Where’s the bombardier cannon? I only see three.

I feel that Spinax is just too expensive. I don’t think she’s worth 17. Her second ability isn’t worth all that much, so I could see her at 15-16 instead.

Oh. I forgot/didn’t know I needed to include that one ??
I’ll fix that on my Google Doc.

I can alter the point cost for Spinax as well.

I’ll fix that on my Google Doc.

For a bombardier, WK (and I) usually make the flame cannon the first cannon, going from left to right. So if the FV has a flame cannon of 3S, then just add another 3S cannon to the spread. If it’s not a 3S cannon, then amend your Doc to reflect it, and maybe re-post just her, so we can all see what her full stats are.

Two more! After these two, only two more in SpMg!

    Lord of Skull Spiders
    Cursed
    Points: 4
Ability: The Skull Spider Unique Treasure does not affect this ship.

Flavor: A strange half man half spider, this fiend is the only being who can command the legions of spiders.

    Outbound Flight
    Ionic
    Points: 40
    Masts: 10
    Cargo: 7
    Cannons: 2S-2S-3S-3S-5S-5S-3S-3S-2S-2S
    Movement: S+S
Ability: Junk. L-range cannons cannot hit this ship. This ships mast’s can only be eliminated by a cannon roll of 6.

Flavor: The most ambitious undertaking the Ionic people ever attempted. Outbound Flight was meant to be a colony ship, and was designed for months on the open ocean, and to defend itself against any possible threats. However, when the outside world came to the Ionics, Outbound Flight was abandoned and a rapid buildup of the navy was undertaken. With war brewing, the navy has re-fitted and restored her, but no longer is she a colony ship, now she is a warship.

I think it would be funny to ask Woelf what he thinks Outbound Flight is worth. (sounds like plane travel btw, not Age of Sail) My initial guess would be about 60.

    Baxter Cayliss
    Faction Affiliation: Mercenary
    Rarity: C
    Type: Crew
    Point Value: 9
Ability: Ex-Patriot. Captain. Hoard. This crew can be assigned to any ship of the same nationality regardless of point costs; if this crew’s cost is greater than the ship, no other crew or equipment can be assigned to that ship.

Flavor text: One of the most well-regarded sailors and captains in the entire southern hemisphere, Baxter Cayliss established himself in various navies before breaking off on his own. Now more profitable than ever, he toes the line between respectable mercenary and outright pirate.

    😀 Go ahead, let’s ask.

On a more serious note, I could knock off the second defensive ability, and leave only her L-range immunity. I actually might do that, since the more I look at her, the more grossly OP she seems to become.

It’s time. The final two pieces of SpMg.

    Skull Harbor
    Cursed
    Points: 14
    Masts: 5
    Cargo: 5
    Cannons: 4S-3S-3S-3S-4S
    Movement: S
Ability: This ship cannot be given move actions after she docks at a wild island.
    Link: Kulta

Flavor: Never has there been a ship like the Skull harbor, and never again will there be. Once a mighty vessel, one of the largest afloat on the seas, rivaling some of the great treasure ships of the south china seas; but now she is little more than a floating wreck. Her immense size lead to her re-naming, and is the point of origin for the legions of Skull Spiders, the Lord of Skull Spiders, and the mysterious Kulta.

    Kulta
    Cursed
    Points: 9
Ability: Loyal: Makuta. Captain. This ship gets +1 to cannon and boarding rolls against any ship.
    Link: Skull Harbor

Flavor: In life, Kulta commanded the Skull Harbor and the many warriors that manned her. Now in death, he has struck a deal with the fell powers of the sea to cling to life, and to offer the services of his men to the Makuta.

…..and with that, we have reached the end of Pirates of Spherus Magna! I’ll have an excel sheet up hopefully by the end of the month on BGG.

Flavor text: A former slave freed by Governor Thomas Lynch after showing impressive intellect, Bodley is currently the most extreme “rags to riches” story in England. He has since been knighted and given command of a small squadron, and he has provided the Royal Navy with yet another successful seaman. Fantastic at issuing commands and logistical work, he thrives when given more than enough sailors to crew his vessels.

Phillip seems like a sleeper OP crew. You could stack that +1 to die roll onto anything (other than BA) and still get a second bonus from somewhere, such as a +1 to cannons/boarding rolls crew. 4 seems okay for now, though I think playtesting would be in order for him.

Speaking of Barton Smith, he’s actually made an appearance in SS, on the USS Eagan.

    Hello again, everyone!
Here we are in the second-ish week of 2019; and here’s my first post of the New Year.
And, as promised, here are the first Spanish pieces from Seas of Doom!

    1. El Catedral
    Gold: 5
    Flags: 4
    Cannons: 4S,4L,4L,4S
Ability: This fort gets +1 to its cannon rolls for every treasure coin unloaded at its island.

Flavor: The men who run this military cathedral, while still technically priests, are most certainly not the righteous holy men they’re supposed to be. The Cathedral only stays in proper running order because of the hefty bribes the priests demand in return for the protection they give to Spanish merchant vessels.

    2. De Leon
    Points: 13
    Masts: 4
    Cannons: 4S,2L,2L,4S
    Cargo: 5
    Base Move: S+S
Ability: Explorer. This ship cannot be sunk, but she can be scuttled.

Flavor: Made using new and innovative ship-building techniques, the De Leon has an almost indestructible hull. With orders to fill in the edges of every map they can get a hold of, and to ensure that the sun always shines on the Spanish Empire, this frigate will not return home until her task is complete.

And with that, Spain is introduced.
Feedback is welcome, although I will more than likely not respond until tomorrow day.
I will probably be posting again on Friday, but I make no promises.

    Until the next post

Ability: Captain. S-Explorer. [Once per turn, if this ship is within S of an island, you can mark the island as explored without docking at it. The island becomes unexplored in regards to all other players.]

Flavor text: Eager to explore, Tara has learned from various cartographers and navigators how best to sail the seven seas.

The De Leon would be very good in low point games I think. That’s a lot of cargo and decent speed, plus a couple very good cannons. I’m not sure how I feel about her yet.

The way El Catedral is worded, it should be more than 5 gold. Unless you want to make it like the other forts that have a similar ability, and cap it at just +1 if there is gold unloaded there. It wouldn’t take much to give it +3 to cannon rolls, making them almost automatic.
