Hey guys, I just got the Julius Caesar recently and I noticed something weird. In the MT description, this ship has the Broadsides attack. In the ship plate I’m holding right now, it says the following:
“This ship may use the keyword Broadsides Attack even though her masts overlap”
Does this mean the Julius Caesar doesn’t have Broadsides attack?
I think its just specifying that unlike other broadsides she might not look like she can broadside but that it DEFINITELY can.(thats what I think at least)
That’s such a weird ability to have, the ability to use another ability. I was hoping that the JC had broadsides…
The ship has the BA ability, it’s on page 2 of The Pirate Code.
The JC is one of the few sips where there is a difference between the Unlimited version and the regular version. I think the UL version is the one with the extra text. However according to the code:
The complete ability text for…….should read: “Schooner. Broadsides Attack.” Certain printings included additional text in the ability box that should be ignored.
One of my brothers tried to cheese that version with the copying Jones to get Broadsides on a ten mast.

O_O Wow, that is actually brilliant… except I still wouldn’t want to take such a huge risk just for the chance at one extra hit. (which would likely be a small percentage of the total damage as opposed to a 2 master with BA)

That extra bit of text that was added may have been an attempt to let the ship ignore line of sight requirements when using BA, but it was so poorly worded that all it did was cause confusion. The way it’s written, it does literally nothing.
The ship could already use BA – you just had to line up the target so the overlapping masts wouldn’t block anything.
