Gojira
Type:ship
Faction:kaiju
Rarity:SE
Point value:25
Masts:4
Cargo:7
Base move:L
Cannons:3L-3L-3S-3S
Ability:Eternal, Titan, Ignore first hit each turn while this ship has all of its masts, you may choose to fire only 1 cannon for your shoot action,it will have x2 range and instead of losing a mast put a fire mast on it.
March 16, 2019 at 11:07 PM #3807XerecsModeratorIf I’m understanding this correctly, Gojira may shoot only one cannon on a shoot action that has twice the normal range, that if it hits does not eliminate a mast from the target ship, but instead gives the target ship a firemast.
Is that about right?
March 17, 2019 at 8:25 AM #3808BenKeymaster@Ed: I think Gojira actually works! That point cost seems about right given the abilities and stats. I think the attack limitation helps as a “negative” ability.
Is this really just a giant crab? How would Godzilla carry all that cargo?
Bladestorm
Type: Ship
Faction Affiliation: Mercenary
Rarity: U
Point Value: 30
Number of Masts: 4
Cargo Space: 4
Base Move: L
Cannons: 3S-3L-4L-2S
Ability: Mercenary. Switchblade. Once per turn per ship affected, when this ship’s blades touch an enemy ship, eliminate one mast and one crew from that ship (before ramming and boarding takes place).
Link: Blade MasterFlavor text: The Blade Master has optimized his ship and crew to be incredibly deadly. With sharp blades that move quickly through enemy hulls, the Bladestorm is a menace to deal with. Her crew are experts in hand to hand combat, and use the ship’s massive blades as they would their own swords, wrecking all enemies that cross their path.
Willing to increase the cost on this one of course.
Blade Master
Type: Crew
Faction Affiliation: Mercenary
Rarity: C
Point Value: 7
Ability: Ex-Patriot. This ship gets +1 to her boarding rolls for every crew assigned to her. If this crew is assigned to a ship with the Switchblade keyword, this ship gets +1 to her ram rolls.
Link: BladestormFlavor text: The Blade Master is a swordsman second to none. He has over 2 decades of intense training under his belt, and still drills every single day while at sea. His passion is infectious, and he has trained all the members of the Bladestorm’s crew to use swords and daggers with maximum efficiency. Often wielding two swords into battle, he is one of the fiercest competitors in any naval discipline.

Type: Unique Treasure
Rarity: R
Ability: If this treasure was found by a Viking ship, the controller of that ship may place this treasure on any iceberg in play. At the beginning of that player’s turns, the player may move the iceberg S in any direction. The player may also prevent the iceberg from moving as it normally would. If loaded by a non-Viking ship, you may exchange this treasure for a treasure of your choosing at the home island of any fleet with a Viking ship in it. Slave Revolt
Type: Ship
Faction Affiliation: Pirate
Rarity: LE
Point Value: 31
Number of Masts: 10
Cargo Space: 8
Base Move: S
Cannons: 4L-4L-4S-4S-4S-3L-3L-5S-4S-4S
Ability: Junk. This ship gets +1 to her boarding rolls for every crew assigned to her. If this ship does not have a Captain or linked crew aboard, eliminate one crew from this ship at the beginning of each of your turns.
Link: Alshon Garnow, Havana Black, Mauled SlaveFlavor text: The biggest slave uprising in the history of the African continent has produced an unhealthy mass of vengeful former slaves. Taking command of an old treasure ship docked in Lagos, over 1200 slaves have come aboard to wreak havoc on the seas. Their seafaring inexperience shows in the vessel’s poor performance, but sheer brutality and manpower may propel the ship to surprising “heights” of chaos. Alshon Garnow has been elected the ship’s captain, but the ex-slaves have heard of the exploits of both Havana Black and the “Mauled Slave”, and hope to bring them aboard and be led to glory.
Alshon Garnow
Type: Crew
Faction Affiliation: Pirate
Rarity: LE
Point Value: 4
Ability: This crew can only use his abilities on his linked ship. Each turn, up to 2 of this ship’s non-Captain generic crew can reuse their ability once each.
Link: Slave Revolt(Musketeer can shoot twice, Shipwright can repair 2 masts, Firepot Specialist could be used twice in a turn, etc.)
Flavor text: Slightly hesitant to accept the role of Captain on the overcrewed Slave Revolt, the 24-year-old Garnow has nevertheless thrived as a calm and motivating leader of slaves. When the leaders of the revolt were killed in the escape, he was the main “mastermind” left to take control. Without Garnow’s calmness and wisdom, the crew aboard the Slave Revolt would likely have descended into civil wars and cannibalism by now.

March 19, 2019 at 2:04 PM #3856XerecsModeratorInteresting ten. Not very fast, and cannons are not so accurate. However, the boarding bonus is very nice. This would pair nicely with a Gold-Capture crew or Captain Nemo, who could then feed his captives to Havana Black. Furthermore, this is Pirate. The Pirates have TONS of great crew, with wold hates, SAT/EA and other nice options. It would be very easy to tun this into a boarding focused dreadnought. Her one problem is her speed. S isn’t going to catch anything and a max speed of S+S won’t catch much either. However I think that a speed of S is a good thing, otherwise this could get very powerful very quickly.
Small quibble with the flavor text. If the crew of the Revolt revolted, then I don’t think they would consider themselves slaves still. So instead of ‘slaves’ maybe ‘former slaves’. Just a suggestion.
March 20, 2019 at 5:16 PM #3866BenKeymaster@Xerecs: It says “former slaves” in the first sentence of the ship’s flavor text, so I’m not going to worry about every iteration.

March 22, 2019 at 1:10 AM #3888XerecsModeratorI really like the Legacy. Interesting combination of keywords. I feel that any six mast with predominately decent cannons will wind up being fielded as some kind of gunship, regardless of cargo and speed. 😀

March 22, 2019 at 1:02 PM #3912XerecsModeratorAnother nice looking ship. Gotta love that speed, and the cannons aren’t that bad, especially with extended range. In a regular pointed game, this is a nice gunship option, in campaigns and whatnot, I think she’d still see use as a gunship, but would be on the outskirts of formations, away from the capital ship fighting.
As is often the case, Rakario would be better off not on his linked ship I think. Getting him onto one of their 4 mast galleys would be the best option for him, along with some kind of boarding roll bonus, to take advantage of the last part of the S-Board ability.
I’m guessing he’s free, since he doesn’t have a point cost? 😀 Though I’m assuming he’s around 8-9 points, based off of WK costing.

Oops! Went too fast and didn’t fill that out. He is 8 points.
With the set being absolutely massive, I’ve decided to finally expand the Super Rare section a bit. There have been 4 SR’s since the beginning that I made as part of my original custom set, but given how many game pieces there are in Epic Seas, it makes sense to have more than 4 if I want.
I believe I made this one last year, but only now was it “finalized”. Though I still feel a little weird about it, and I want to keep the “Neutral” faction stuff to a minimum.

March 23, 2019 at 12:11 PM #3917XerecsModeratorFlavor text kinda makes me want to see the Bilnami as a Junk. 😀 not very good cannons, but decent speed and a built in explorer, all for the cheap cost of 10 points. Good points! The cannons average out to rank-3 which isn’t terrible. I feel like she’s slightly worse but similar to the East Wind – a potential low-cargo hybrid that isn’t awesome but gets overlooked. March 24, 2019 at 9:25 PM #3950XerecsModeratorSurprised you didn’t react to the Rage of Atlantis (no problem, just figured you’d find it interesting); I may just make her Cursed.
I do find he interesting, just didn’t have anything to say about he when she was posted. This is one of the few times I’d ague against making a ship Cursed. Given the huge amount of custom stuff they’ve already gotten (and will likely continue to get) I think the Atlantis could be better off in another faction. I know you’ve made a TON of Merc stuff, but this would tie in flavor wise to the Atlantis themed Mercenary customs I made for FoBI.
The Triomphe is weird to me. Not much cargo, good cannons and speed. The Link is what makes this weird, since you could fit a HUGE number of named crew on this. Just thinking as I type, if the princess is placed on her, then the possibilities get even wackier.
The Oceania at fist didn’t impress me, but she’s growing on me. Lots of cargo and average speed for a ten. He poorer cannons make me inclined to use boarding oriented combinations with her, such as Captain Nemo and other such crew.

Links are still weird to me.
-Multiple different crew may be linked to a single ship at once, but each crew can link with only one other crew or ship at a time unless an ability specifically allows additional links to be created.
To me that’s one of the most confusing things in the Pirate Code. I’m changing the link to “Any 1 French named crew”, which I think was my intention in the first place. I may have to also edit some other ship links so they’re not gamebreaking.
Oceania is a little funky, but I’m trying to make all of my 10 masters different from each other. With the amount I’ve created (~30!!), that’s becoming more difficult. XD
Fiesta
Type: Ship
Faction Affiliation: Spanish
Rarity: U
Point Value: 11
Number of Masts: 4
Cargo Space: 7
Base Move: S
Cannons: 5S-5L-5L-5S
Ability: Crew cannot use their abilities on this ship. This ship cannot shoot. One of this ship’s treasures is worth +1 gold when she docks at your home island. Crew of any nationality can use their abilities on this ship. Enemies get -1 to their d6 rolls against this ship. If this ship is not assigned at least 2 crew, this ship cannot be given actions.Flavor text: The Fiesta is “one big party”. All manner of goods and vices are found aboard, but this has resulted in the ship becoming nearly unseaworthy. However, hearing of the good times, sailors from all over the world flock to the ship in droves. The distinctive atmosphere shocks even those who detest the Spanish, and “enemies” often join in the revelry. It remains to be seen what will become of this oddity.
Maybe a terrible ship, but I really don’t want it to be abused for gold.

March 25, 2019 at 2:30 PM #3965XerecsModeratorSpeaking of funky, the Fiesta is very odd. Why does she have the ‘crew of any nationality’ if crew can’t use their abilities on he anyway, what would stop you from putting non-Spanish crew on her?
Captain Zamos is interesting, I’ve not seen many Spanish WH/Captains, other than the one that WK made.
Nice fort, similar name to one of JWDarkhurst’s; in English it was ‘Church on the cliff by the sea’, and had extended range and six cannons I think.

Cuz I’m silly. XD I was going purely thematic without thinking about how all the abilities interacted with each other. However, I think I’ll leave it, because that way if the “crew can’t use A’s” ability is cancelled, that would allow crew of any nationality to use their abilities as normal. XD Honestly it’s one of my least favorite customs in the entire set and I’m not opposed to just deleting it if it gets too weird.

March 27, 2019 at 1:59 AM #3998Jonathan BowenParticipantGood evening, everyone
Tonight’s post is exceedingly late, but I finally have some pieces from Seas of Doom with flavor text! ?????
Also @Ben: Did a piece that I made inspire one of yours? (at least name-wise) ?? *is happy*Anyway, on to the primary focus of this post:
I present to you, the French from Pirates: The Seas of Doom!!Relevant Keywords
Repeating Guns: When this ship is given a shoot action, you may declare that she is using repeating guns. If all cannons hit during that shoot action, each cannon may shoot again. (This action does not count towards the two action limit) For each cannon that misses on its second shot, eliminate one mast or cargo from this ship.
World-Hater: This ship gets plus one to her cannon rolls against any ship of a different nationality.
1. Tempête Sombre
Points: 26
Masts: 4
Cannons: 2L,3L,3L,2L
Cargo: 3
Base Move: L
Ability: Repeating Guns. World-Hater.Flavor: A new kind of warship, the Dark Tempest was made for the express purpose of ensuring French dominance on the high seas.
2. Le Revenant
Points: 15
Masts: 5
Cannons: 3L,2S,2S,2S,3L
Cargo: 4
Base Move: L
Ability: Pirate ships get -1 to their cannon rolls against this ship.Flavor: When a French merchant vessel found the Revenant, she was dismasted and beached on an island that did not appear on any map. Knowing her history as a pirate vessel, she was salvaged and is now used to trick unsuspecting pirates into sailing within firing range.
I have no idea when I will post again, but I hope I can squeeze something in tomorrow.
Until next post

March 27, 2019 at 9:43 PM #4014BenKeymasterAn update on my custom fantasy set, Pirates of the Epic Seas!
😀 The set has reached 1,000 total game pieces!! Check out how your favorite factions are doing! The set may never be “done”, but at this point I’ve exhausted most of the extremely numerous ideas I’ve had for the set, and marks the beginning of what will probably be (for real this time, I think XD) a general slowdown in the creation of new fantasy customs. However, I plan to keep “releasing” them here in this thread at a rate of at least one per day to accompany the historical customs. Thanks for checking out my stuff and feedback is welcome.

At S+S she’s decently quick, but 4 cargo isn’t much, which means you need to be selective about what crew you put on her. Xioli Cranos was posted a while back, which I why I didn’t post him with the ship. It’s actually kind of a bad link due to a duplicate ability, so some edit may happen.
It’s unlikely I’ll have much time to post customs for the next 2 days, so I’m just getting them out of the way now.

Devil’s Frenzy
Type: Ship
Faction Affiliation: Cursed
Rarity: LE
Point Value: 60
Number of Masts: 10
Cargo Space: 10
Base Move: L
Cannons: 3S-2S-4L-3L-2L-4S-4S-3S-5L-5L
Ability: Junk. This ship cannot carry gold or resources. This ship gets 2 shots per mast IF she targets at least 2 ships during an action. This ship gets +S to her base move if she begins a move action within S of 3 or more ships. This ship gets +1 to her equipment rolls. If this ship succeeds at a boarding party, choose two of the following: eliminate a crew, take a treasure, or eliminate a mast. At the beginning of each of your turns, choose any 2 abilities with “specialist” in the name; this ship has those abilities. The abilities do not have to be in play and you may make a different choice each turn. Marines don’t take up cargo space on this ship.
Link: UlcrunFlavor text: The Devil’s Frenzy is the home of chaos on the high seas. Usually seen fighting both broadsides in the middle of a hectic battle, the ship is so full of crazed demons, weaponry, and gunpowder that enemy sailors often faint in battle from the chaos and stress. Others go blind and deaf from the madness. The ship is seemingly a bottomless pit of gunpowder, noise, and bedlam.
Ulcrun
Type: Crew
Faction Affiliation: Cursed
Rarity: C
Point Value: 4
Ability: World Hater. [This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls against any [non-faction] ship.] Cargo Wrecking. [When this ship hits an enemy ship, you may also eliminate one cargo from that ship.] You must eliminate one other crew on this ship each turn to use the abilities of this crew.
Link: Devil’s FrenzyFlavor text: Ulcrun is supposedly a man, but has been mistaken many times for some kind of bizarre demon. Short, strong, and with a quick temper, he communicates with a mix of tribal speak, guttural crying, grunting and growling. His enormous appetite requires a “sacrifice” for him to fly into a rage during battle, at which point enemy ships don’t usually stand much of a chance.
This is a rare case where the crew linked to the 10 master isn’t of the same rarity, and in this case isn’t technically the captain of the Devil’s Frenzy (who could still have a named captain of course, just not linked). Wanted to each 10 master different, so this one doesn’t have a typical linked crew captain. However, Ulcrun certainly fits well given the flavor so he got the link.

Link: Gorskull BulosFlavor text: This captured French ship offers the Cursed something they don’t usually possess – good speed and good cargo capacity on a large ship. Assigning a less bloodthirsty captain to her, they are reaping the rewards.
Gorskull Bulos
Type: Crew
Faction Affiliation: Cursed
Rarity: U
Point Value: 7
Ability: Captain. If this ship wins a boarding party, you choose which crew is eliminated.
Link: Devil’s GloryFlavor text: Although Gorskull Bulos has an affinity for decapitating his enemy equals, he is content to help the Cursed effort in any way possible. Lately that has meant ferrying riches away from Central America, and killing anyone who they see on the way out of the Caribbean.
