@Xerecs: For Makuta, that’s far less OP and actually far more interesting to me. Playtesting would be required to determine a decent cost though.

I’ve actually used Jordan, he’s made his way into Savage Seas!

@Nate: Thanks, I agree that the artwork is great. Nearly every ship in the game (over 1,000 total released) has its own unique artwork!
They introduced 5 MORE factions than the 5 you can find in RV (Revolution). I’ve summarized them in my Factions page.Board games have made some comebacks this decade and have been doing OK, but I totally understand what you mean about the broad switch to digital. I think even more board games will get online/virtual versions, especially with improving AR and VR tech. I just played a physical game for the first time this year, and it was pretty neat. The ship models are awesome. However, it’s also nice that we can play with anyone in the world via the VASSAL module.

For the love of Pirates CSG
@Nate: Good point! I got into Pirates CSG as a kid and the memories of it remain some of my fondest.
Revolution is a better set than Barbary Coast, as you can see from my set rankings. RV has very good ship quality, great artwork, and is a bit “cooler”. BC is neat but lacks the Pirate faction and 5 masted ships. However, RV is less balanced and has flaws that BC does not have (events and subpar named crew in some cases).
