Pirates of the Mysterious Islands – 10th Anniversary Game
    11/15/2016

Today is the 10th anniversary of Pirates of the Mysterious Islands being released!

To celebrate, a 50 point game with all-Mysterious Isl […]

  • I love how the ships don’t have bases.  A ton of naval games are dependent on a base of plastic/etc for the ship to sit on, which makes ramming, boarding, and point blank range much harder.  I love how easy it is to use the ships from Pirates CSG.  It also makes them easier to store and probably easier to use in multiple naval games.

  • Discovered this week whilst pulling a pretty sizable assortment from my “double dupes,” that I really love SCS. The assortment is for a friend new to the game, and because I had comparatively little from SCS to give to him, it emphasized what a player would be missing from a lack of those cards.

SCS is amazing.  I think it’s definitely in the [Read more]

  • Purchased one of the 2007 Pirates of the Spanish Main RPG (Savage Worlds) hardbound books today, at my OOP-friendly neighborhood games shop.

Captain Vendari has played and enjoyed that a bunch in the past.

OOPS!!  Looks like I’m to blame for the linking problem.  The issues are LINKED!!  XD  It seems that in my haste to clean up and prevent the spam, I changed a setting that added “comments” containing 1 or more links to a “moderation queue”.  However, that seems to have affected the forum as well, rather than just the site comments you can subm…[Read more]

  • I’ve been trying – unsuccessfully – to embed a link to the Pinnacle Entertainment Group

Yes, links are not working for anyone but me it seems.  Sorry and I’m trying to fix it.

  • So you could keep the starter packs as the “game in every pack” variant where islands, crew, and random ships are all included but then other packs that are cheaper to produce and do not contain everything could be sold separately. Those could be the single nation, or crew only… ect options available.

I’ll give a +1 bonus to this idea.  XD

  • About how rare was the Revenge from SM? Not the 11 point uncommon one, but the promotional one?

Not all that rare from what I know.  I don’t remember having trouble acquiring mine and I don’t think I paid much.  I think a collector posted at MT about giving them away.  (though they shouldn’t be as common as the Obago)

  • I think Pandemonium could be more suited for standard play if the equipment it uses had to be on the island with the fort.

I think I might make an alternate version like that for less points.

I am developing a “class” of three fictional steam-

That’ll be a no from me, dawg!  XD  (not that you would expect anything else from me lol)

    Made these…[Read more]

Just implemented a captcha on the registration page.  Hopefully it will stop the spam accounts.

Made a question thread at the bbpress support forum inquiring about the link problem.  No idea why people other than me have trouble posting links (posting as a bare URL rather than linked text may help), the site seems glitchy for no good reason s…[Read more]

kevin2377 has a bunch of pack lots up, plus a few 3 pound boxes.

    A Foggy Affair
This game was between 5 fleets at 50 points each.

Here are the fleets in the order of play:

The English were looking to combine extra actions with the Hoist keyword and Commander Temple’s […]

Another solitaire game has been played. As before, the Water World rules were the basic rules. However, similar to last time, there would be no home forts.

This time, instead of maxing out the cargo space of e […]

    Bunch of auctions ending soon!

Now seeing some interesting singles up as well.  Kind of an individual ship bonanza.  XD

Edit: Seeing some decent lots up as well.  Lately I’ve been noticing multiple lots that look borderline on whether or not they’re worth taking.  For someone beginning to collect I think some of them are fair.

    70 point Water World

    10/7/2016

A 70 point game of Water World was played between myself and El Cazador.  He went with a Pirate fleet with three ships each having double action crew aboard, while I went […]

Sorry if you have trouble posting links.  No idea what the problem with that is but I’ll be looking into it.  Apologies for the leaky vessel….

  • Pleasantly surprised so far by how many pages I’ve been able to access from the Internet Archive/Wayback Machine.

This thread can serve as a repository for any “finds” of salvaged MT content.  Anyone who posts here can simply edit their post in the thread with links.

  • The main Custom Ships thread is the place to post your new customs, things you want feedback on, etc.  This thread is not for giving or receiving feedback!

This thread is where you can post links to your custom sets.  You can also keep all of your customs here IN ONE POST, but I suggest you also make a backup (or two) if you do th…[Read more]

  • If that’s the intent, and it can use them from outside the game, it’s horribly underpriced at only 8 gold.

That is the intent.  I guess I didn’t think of all the crazy possibilities with the shot types.  You could freeze an opponent, set them on fire, and cancel all their crew all at once, and that’s not all the shot types.  Cost is jumping up to…[Read more]

  • The darker and more vivid colors on everything else looks so much better. Crazy collectoring aside, there’s little to no reason to seek out the lighter cards.

I agree completely.  Someone recently at the Facebook group prefers the faded cards and said they love anything with a matte finish.

I’m pretty much all about using a collection, so as lo…[Read more]
