Do you guys ever run into resealed packs? I played a lot of MTG and that is a real problem on the second-hand market. I am wondering if it is a problem for Pirates as well.

I don’t think I have.  There have been some reports of it, mainly involving CCGCastle which is why they’re at the bottom of my list now.

That’s good. I was also wondering because I got some packs of CC and a couple of them the bottom seal looked odd and I got an American crew. I didn’t know that was possible in CC but I looked it up and there is one American ship in the set.

The one American ship is the Super Rare, Roanoke!!! There is also an American Captain card# 115 in the base set

I have never encountered a resealed pack of pirates (mostly because I don’t buy sealed packs). People have raised concerns in the past, especially about funny looking packs that look like they’ve been resealed. the counter point is that these packs are 10-15 years old, whatever was used to seal them may be deteriorating.

You’re probably right about the deterioration of the sealing agent. Probably some type of glue.

That leads me to another question then. Is there a reason why you don’t buy sealed packs?

I have always found that cracking packs is fun. I like the mystery. Especially in this game where the sets are not quite so packed. Many other TCGs it is just not worth it to crack packs unless it’s just something you do for fun.

I got a booster box of RV and it was super fun to open those packs and see what I got. Sure there were some duplicates but I’d say I got pretty lucky with pulling unique ships.

Sealed packs are getting more and more expensive, and I’m less willing to pay that higher price. Also, I already have most of what you can get out of a pack. Most of my collection was bought second hand through large lots on eBay or large sales on Miniature Trading.
