The current Hall of Fame, by order of induction:
    Woelf
    A7XfanBen
    Cadet-Captain Mike
    Holofernes
    Old_Man
    Xerecs

This poll shows that people would generally like for Hall of Fame inductions to happen at the end of each year.  Each person can have a ballot of people they think deserve induction to the Pirates CSG Hall of Fame.

Post below with your ballot.  It would be best to explain WHY you’re voting for someone, and why you think they’re the most deserving.  Unlike the initial 6 monthly inductions, I think the number of people on a ballot could be uncapped.  Similar to the baseball HoF, induction will require 75% of all the votes.  (someone would be inducted if they received 6 or more votes out of 8 people voting, for example)

These people can be anyone in the Pirates CSG community. This includes members who are no longer active, and also members from other Pirates CSG sites. (I would say that people who worked on the game (designers, artists, etc) would be exempt because they’d all be such automatic shoo-ins) You cannot vote for yourself (no Brethren Court shenanigans XD).

My 2018 Pirates CSG Hall of Fame ballot:

    Rizz (aka Riz the Bloody)

Rizz has been one of the most helpful community members for many years. He has submitted various documents and uploaded useful files to BGG, including some ship and crew card blanks. He had one of the most entertaining Pirate websites, the Corsairs of Douglas County, until it was taken down around a couple years ago. He did a lot of trades “back in the day” and has various other contributions to the community. (including over 1,000 posts and 16 pages of fleet/MR comments)

    Lordstu

lordstu is unfortunately not around anymore, which I did factor into my vote. However, he (I think) held the record for most fleets submitted for a while, at 81 (not to mention 20 Miniature Reviews). What struck me about him was just how engaging nearly all of his posts were. He probably rates highly on the all-time “words per post” if there was such a metric recorded, since many of his posts were very deep into the heart of the game and specific to a degree hardly seen since. I think I’d say he is the deactivated member that I miss most. You can still see his ridiculous contributions to the fleets and MR sections, with nearly 50 pages of comments.  Shocked (I am at 41 pages for reference with more years of commenting, so the volume he did was likely unprecedented (Woelf at 55 pages but over the course of 8 years instead of about 4 for lordstu’s 49 pages). I counted 20 responses to a page in that search, which means lordstu has almost 1,000 comments on fleets and MR’s alone!

    Piranha

Tony Vigil was the Rules Arbitrator before Woelf took over, and I believe the only other RA.  One of the most important people in Pirates CSG history outside of the game designers themselves.

I would vote Lordstu as well, for the same reasons you mentioned Ben.

My other vote/nomination would go to Bookwyrm (no longer a MT member I think).  Some of the most comprehensive miniature reviews I’ve ever read, and inspired me to try and write miniature reviews in as detailed a way possible. One of the things I miss most about being banned is being able to look at his reviews.

On a side note, how did I wind up in the Pirates hall of fame?

Should have given a deadline the first time around.  Two weeks left – vote by midnight (your time zone) on 1/16/2019!

On a side note, how did I wind up in the Pirates hall of fame?

If you still had access to MT, you could see the thread where myself and others voted for you.

With a perfect score (3/3 votes), Lordstu has been elected to the Pirates CSG Hall of Fame! Congratulations!!

So I can confirm that Lordstu is no longer, as far as I am aware, actively playing Pirates, as I am the individual he sold his collection to. I am also overjoyed at his induction in the hall of fame, for it is Lordsu who introduced me to Pirates initially.

@Flungus: Wow that’s amazing!  MT shows he was last active there in 2015.

Do you know him personally?  He’s definitely one of the main pirates I’d love to have back in the community, and I wish I had delved deep into gameplay and strategy conversations more often when lordstu was active.

He is a close personal friend, but we have both moved away from the area where we both lived years ago and I haven’t seen him in awhile. He gifted me his collection as he had been unable to play in quite some time. He and his family are very active board gamers and they introduced be to the joys of Catan, Civilization, and Ticket to Ride.

Very cool.  If you do see/message him, let him know that we miss him here in the Pirates CSG community and he’s welcome aboard Pirates with Ben!  🙂

Huzzah for Lordstu! I read some of the reviews and comments he made. Quite impressive, I’d have loved to have had a chat with him about pirates and whatnot.
