By that I mean the blue plastic display that comes with the top of booster boxes. There’s usually some ships attached to it, along with poor quality versions of an island/coins/crew card.
I save the ships and even used some of them like the Terror submarine without having the deckplate since it’s almost like free ships if you can extract them properly. (which can be difficult and risky) I do save the crew cards even though they are just cardboard with no back. This was also great because I had one of the DJC Davy Jones before getting the actual card with the punchable crew chip. Not all the box variations have the top display, but it’s like a nice little freebie.
Do you keep that kind of stuff and even use it? Would you use it as part of your play set if you didn’t have the full version? (ship without deckplate, cardboard crew without flavor text, etc)

Hardcore dose of nostalgia staring at those scenes hoping one of packs I just got would yield a ship that cool. I think they’re absolutely fair game because they are produced with the sets, as long as you have all the information wether it be with the deck card or by finding it online it is valid. Since things have become harder to find I’d say these ships/crew are even more valuable despite not being as high quality as those found by opening booster packs.

Stores were much less likely to say you couldn’t have the box if you were clearing inventory. The Plastic is often brittle or yellowed by now on the ‘out of box’ tops from those old purchases. Was nice to get new ones recently through Hills and lot purchases.
I wonder if anyone has a list of all available ones.

Not that I can recall seeing, but there’s a chance that someone (especially Holofernes) has an old list at MT.

Yes, no other items in my collection hit the nostalgia button as do the empty boxes w/a linked 😉 topper. I’m right back w/the joy of opening new release packs & thrilled that my LGS had allowed me to take those “bonuses” home. Other bonuses would be the occasional promo or tournament pack.
It’s blasphemy that some of y’all dismantled the toppers for play! J/K, I can totally see that.
