What is the item in your collection most valuable to you?

It’s a tough one for me.  I’ve got 4 “super special” ships that I have separate from the rest of my collection – HMS Lord Algernon (my favorite ship), La Magnifique (my first 5 master, which is my favorite ship type), HMS Lord Walpole, and HMS Birkenhead (my first 2 English ships).  However, the Baochuan and Delusion would come close in terms of my most personally valuable item.  I also really like looking through my binders of deckplate cards – it’s a bit too broad of an answer I suppose, but the big binder with all my English, French, and Spanish ship cards (and Pirate ships bigger than 3 masts) is always one of my favorite things to pull out.

(Doesn’t have to be a ship – could be a bust, LE crew card, wrapper from first pack you opened, etc)

    HMS Lord Algernon

(this question was originally a thread at Miniature Trading)

For me it’s a tough three way tie between the Bauchon which I was able to get unpunched for less than 20 bucks (I saw most of them at least 50). I also have the Nautilus w/captain nemo and The Flying Dutchman with Davy Jones from DJC. I have to give an honorable mention to the three transparent ships I have too; the black pearl and the two seamonsters from DJC that I can’t recall the names of. One’s a sea serpent and the other a giant squid.

Nice.  The Baochuan averages about $28.34 at auction, but for some time now $50 has been somewhat standard for non-auction buys.

I too have had an affinity for #001 ships/combos – I even made a ranking about it.  🙂

Mist Walker and Behemoth; you can find all the game pieces in the Master Spreadsheet.

Yes those two! They aren’t particular great units or ones that I play a lot but I like having them as collectables.

The USS Mercury! Without it, it’s hard to make a submersible chieftain fleet.

    Raptor Maw.

Nice getting it to complete the dragons. Totally over-traded for it.

Probably a tie between the DJC Flying Dutchman, the USS Enterprise, the San Cristobal, and the Zeus. Maybe Paradis de la Mer. Although having more than one Sea Dragon sounds way more impressive to me ?

100% the HMS Titan. Was in the first booster pack I opened back when I was a child, and took me 120 booster packs to get again as an adult. Close second is the Le Courageux, absolutely gorgeous little ship.

If I had to pick a single ship, right now I’d have to say my Mourning Star [FS 207]. Not only does she have a lower point cost than pretty much every other five-master, she is also cheaper than so many of the Cursed’s smaller ships that it’s downright disturbing.

My second favorite thing would have to be my binder with all of my minor faction deckplates and named crew cards. I’ve almost completed all four (Missing Viper’s Bite from the Corsairs, Tasmanian Devil from the Mercenaries, and Andersen & Duex from the Vikings), so it’s always satisfying to be able to build a fleet for any of them while knowing you’ve got every option available.

Really interesting topic, and not really one I’ve thought about before. Probably would have had a different answer a year ago.

Exactly.  That’s one of my favorite things about being nearly complete in terms of booster pack items.  I also love seeing the numbers go up sequentially without gaps, especially with JR and BC ships.

Awesome!  I can’t take credit for it since I found it on MT, but there will be more threads coming!  😀
