Hello from Spain! It’s been a really nice surprise to find this site. I’ve been enjoying it for a pair of weeks now as weel as the youtube videos. Thank you Ben!
I started playing this game since the very beginning a long time ago and, although in my local shop interest started to decay after barbary coast, I kept buying the subsequent expansions knowing someday I would come back to it. ç
I remember at the time I enjoyed making my own “seas” and islands since I always thought it was one of the collest-looking games to play. My collection is rather modest (150-200 ships) but more than enough for casual play.
Recently my children have started showing interest for some of my old stuff (mechwarrior, pirates, star wars miniatures…) so I find myself enjoying again this and other great games that have been sitting in the basement for several years. Having found this site has inspired me to start making some new 3d terrain for the game (now using 3d printing technology). The first design I’ve published is a fort. I’ll leave the link here in case you want to give it a go.
One of the funny things about the game is that some Spanish names were not properly translated, but it was not really an issue.
Again, I’m glad to have found this site.
The fort, in case you are into 3D scenery:
