Ahoy!
Username is Georgee. I don’t actually have a story of where the name came from but I’ve had it since I was a kid and it just stuck. It’s probably fitting then, that I first got into Pirates when I was about ten. My best friend, who was even younger than me, about 8, started buying Spanish Main and Crimson Coast packs and he got me into it. I think those were the only sets that were out at that point, so I wanna say 2004, 2005? We played the game and bought packs whenever we saved up or got allowance. I think we probably played for two or three years, and we both had amassed quite a good-sized collection. Drove our parents nuts with all the plastic ship pieces! I think we finally lost interest around the time the Pirates of the Caribbean themed set was coming out. Then I completely forgot about the game for the last 13 years or so. So flash forward to this month, my family had me going through old boxes of my childhood stuff and I discovered a couple of shoe boxes filled with my old Pirates collection. Only about half of them survived the ravages of time, but I’ve decided I want to get back into it and collect them. Maybe see if anyone still does any gaming with it too, though I am completely out of the loop on how I would even go about that. Anyway, happy to know there’s still a community out there for something that was a big part of my childhood!
