Hello again all, been a little too busy to share any customs for a while.

Though I am not a huge fan of the cursed faction, I am intrigued by those two customs. The Ceremonial Sacrifice with it’s permanent fire mast is unique and is tied in with the flavor and ability. I am assuming that it would be scuttled at the start of the turn after the two non fire masts were eliminated? Ring Besis has a nice compliment of abilities I would use on more than just 10 masters and those are some Epic flavor texts as well.

I also wanted to thank you for sharing how you estimate the size of historical ships Ben. I changed the name of that five master on my spreadsheet from “Sila” to “Lesnoye”.

Here are two more for tonight, one Russian and one Spanish. One of these days I will start adding some flavor text to my pieces (creative writing has never been my strong suit, but I would like to get better at it).

    Sokol
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: C
    Nationality: Russian
    Point Cost: 11
    Masts: 3
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: S+L
    Cannons: 3S,2L,3S
Ability: Schooner. Forts cannot hit this ship.

    Orgullo Real
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: U
    Nationality: Spanish
    Point Cost: 9
    Masts: 3
    Cargo: 2
    Base Move: S+S
    Cannons: 4L,4L,4S
Ability: Galleon. This ship can dock and explore a wild island using the same move action.

I have been wanting to add a few of my ship types for a while and actually have a Galleon cut out in metal as a test. I wanted the Galleon keyword to be treasure oriented and as long as it is ok with Xerecs, I would like it to be “This ship has 2 extra cargo spaces that may only be assigned treasure.” like his Hidden Gold keyword? This is a lot less complicating than my original idea.

As always, I like to hear feedback if you are inclined to share.

Interesting!  Will they be all historical customs, or some fantasy?  Those first two look good and fairly costed.

Thank you, I would like to make a lot of them based on historical ships, even if only in name. But I will have a few I make up. It is a little harder to find information on specific Russian ships or sailors any deeper than that list you shared (I haven’t had too much time to search a little harder yet though). The Opyt is a ship I read a little about and was actually captured by the English. And I did manage to find a ship called Sila in that list of Russian Battleships. 😉
(I hope that answers Xerecs question also)

I’ll share two more Russian ships tonight.

    Nataliya
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: U
    Nationality: Russian
    Point Cost: 13
    Masts: 4
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: S+L
    Cannons: 2S,3S,3S,2S
Ability: Once per turn, one of this ship’s cannons can shoot again if it misses. This ship cannot be pinned.

    Volk
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: U
    Nationality: Russian
    Point Cost: 12
    Masts: 3
    Cargo: 4
    Base Move: S+S
    Cannons: 2S,2L,2S
Ability: This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls against ships without all their masts.

The Canyon and Arsod are a pretty cool combo! I would have to agree with Xerecs though about reducing the consecutive turns to 3.

USS Evening Star is extremely powerful.  I think HMS Endeavour should really cost 24-25 points, so I’d prefer to see the ES at 21 or more.  However, I would say the Derzkiy could go to 7.

Thank you for the feedback, and 21 sounds fair and I agree about the Endeavour.

Interesting, when will we see some of these Russian ships? I’m always interested to see new factions and the like.

I was hoping someone other than me would like a new faction. 🙂
I am still working on a lot of them, but have a couple ships to share with you now. There might be a link for the first one down the road when I start working on crew. The second one I wasn’t sure what to cost it as that ability has fluctuated in cost a lot from CC to PotC.

    Sila
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: R
    Nationality: Russian
    Point Cost: 17
    Masts: 5
    Cargo: 4
    Base Move: L
    Cannons: 2S,2S,2S,2S,2S
Ability: This ship ignores the first hit she takes each turn as long and she has all of her masts. This ship gets +1 to her boarding rolls.

    Opyt
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: R
    Nationality: Russian
    Point Cost: 12
    Masts: 1
    Cargo: 2
    Base Move: S+S
    Cannons: 3L
Ability: Schooner. Friendly ships within S of this ship get +1 to their cannon rolls. English ships get +1 to their cannon rolls against this ship.

The Spirits of the Past is a nice combo of abilities, would make a nice hybrid as you call it. Nice new and unique ability on the Stormdrove. I like terrain but don’t use it enough unfortunately.

Two more ships of my own. I’ll be sharing some crew soon, they are a little harder for me to come up with at the moment.

    USS Evening Star
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: R
    Nationality: American
    Point Cost: 19
    Masts: 5
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: L
    Cannons: 3S,2S,2S,2S,3S
Ability: This ship eliminates two masts with one hit.

    Derzkiy
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: U
    Nationality: Pirate
    Point Cost: 8
    Masts: 2
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: S+S
    Cannons: 2S,3S
Ability: This ship gets +1 to her cannon rolls and boarding rolls against Russian ships.

Thank you for the feedback! I will adjust those ships accordingly. (should I edit the post they are in as well?).

Ben, that is a unique Titan! I don’t use sea creatures much, but it is pretty cool to see one geared towards treasure hunting. Also think that crew is pretty neat as well! I can see that driving the enemy just a little crazy.

Two more ships, one Pirate and one Spanish.

    Black Jack
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: C
    Nationality: Pirate
    Point Cost: 10
    Masts: 3
    Cargo: 4
    Base Move: S+S
    Cannons: 3L,2L,3L
Ability: One of this ship’s treasures is worth +1 gold when unloaded at your home island.

    La Empresa
    Type: Ship
    Rarity: C
    Nationality: Spanish
    Point Cost: 11
    Masts: 3
    Cargo: 4
    Base Move: S+S
    Cannons: 4S,2L,4S
Ability: Schooner. Crew of any nationality can use their abilities on this ship.

Hello everyone, It has been some time since I have jumped on here to share some customs. I would like to change that and will try to post more. Anyhow, here are two ships I have come up with recently. Unfortunately I still have not come up with flavor text for any of them and am still getting used to how to cost them for points, so don’t be shy letting me know of any changes there. The first one is (very) loosely based on a historical American bomb ketch (which is why the odd link is there).

    USS Vesuvius
    Type: Ship
    Nationality: American
    Point Cost: 23
    Masts: 3
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: S+S
    Cannons: 3S,3L,3L,2S
    Link: David Porter
Ability: Bombardier. You own any derelict that this ship explores; both ships become docked at your home island.

    HMS Seaford
    Type: Ship
    Nationality: English
    Point Cost: 10
    Masts: 2
    Cargo: 3
    Base Move: S+S
    Cannons: 2L,3S
Ability: When this ship is given a move action, roll a d6 before moving her. On a result of 5 or 6, place a trade current. On a 1 or 2, eliminate a friendly trade current. On a 3 or 4, this ship gets +S to her base move that action.

Alright, next two ships. These two I am not certain where to price them (the first one due to the ability mainly), so I am open to suggestions.

    Juggernaut
    Points: ?
    Faction: Mercenary
    Cannons: 3S,3S,4S,4S,4S
    Cargo: 3
    Move: S+S
Ability: Mercenary. Whenever this ship successfully rams another ship, eliminate two masts from the rammed ship instead of one. This ship gets +1 to her ram rolls.

    Rusty Spear
    Points: ?
    Faction: Pirate
    Cannons: 2S,2S,3L
    Cargo: 3
    Move: S+S
Ability: Icebreaker. On the turn this ship is pinned, eliminate one crew and one mast from the rammed ship.

Glad to be here. I did notice things slowing down over there after the news and thought I would come here to stay a part of the community just in case MT does go.

I am glad you caught the spelling error (if there was a way to fix it I would haha, it was pretty late when I wrote that up and also forgot to have the faction in the info.

I wanted to start sharing my customs and hope it is okay to do so here. I thought I would start with two ships. I do not have a “complete” set of customs yet but thought I would get an idea of how to set accurate point costs by getting some feedback (or in a lot of cases a starting point). I also do not have any flavor text for any of them yet. Any who, here is an English 5 master and a Pirate 4 master.

    HMS Resource
    Points: 16
    Faction: English
    Cannons: 2L,2S,3S,3S,3L
    Cargo: 4
    Move: L
Ability: If this ship has a crew with the captain keyword, she gets +1 to her cannon rolls.

    Neptune’s Horror
    Points: 17
    Faction: Pirate
    Cannons: 2S,4L,4L,2S
    Cargo: 4
    Move: S
Ability: This ship eliminates two masts with one hit.

Let me know what you think.
