SO… how much is a complete set of PotSM worth? Of course, there’s probably no real answer, other than whatever someone wants to pay. Hobbies can be expensive and this past year was hobby-rich due to the plague, etc.
But in March of this year, 2021, I made the decision to move on in gaming without 2 immensely heavy fliptop crates full of piratey plastic, and undertook to sell my complete PotSM collection (one of every official card ever produced) on eBay – mostly one complete set at a time, with a few single card exceptions.
The collection was spread over 23 auctions, not counting duplicates (for instance if I sold 2 Guichuans, I only counted the card that went for the higher price) – not counting taxes, eBay and Paypal’s cut of the action, shipping or insurance costs, etc, so this is the “gross” figure, not “net”.
And the total, overall sale figure was:
———> $8,822.00 USD
Hard to believe, and certainly much more than I guessed it would end up at when I started.
Some highlights would be:
- The Obago Deuce card sold for $1825
- Fire and Steel set went for $810
- Frozen North set went for $762
- Curse of Davy Jones set for $575
- Single Zeus card for $216
- Single Guichuan card for $217
- Kalle et Anka / Donld Duck home islands, 2 cards + some misc. for $151
So there you have it, for what it’s worth, with a big thank you to anyone here who bought one of my items at auction and is giving it a good new home.

It was really an amazing thing to see so many great sets and items go up for auction in a relatively short span of time. The Deuce is crazy – the three times it’s been on eBay that I’ve seen, it’s gone for $500, then $1225, now $1825.01!
I was also surprised by how high some of the auctions got – F&S going for a whole $300 more than SCS was maybe the craziest thing to me. I though the Scandinavian home islands might have gone for a little more, so maybe I should have bid on those haha.
Thanks again for the memories – from informative posts in the original eBay thread back around 2007, to making your epic collection available to us!

The FS set had ALL the LE things. All the Morning Stars and Sea Lizards, plus the historical pirates pack, Raptor Maw, Chum Maker and more. I suspect that’s why it went for so much.
