Hello there. I first discovered Pirates back in 2005. I was at a Walgreens, and they had an open booster box of Revolution sitting by the checkout counter. I was intrigued by the “game in every pack” tagline, and since I love the subject of historical Pirates anyways, I grabbed a handful of packs for myself and my son (who was 12 at the time). We had a lot of fun opening the packs and assembling the ships, but alas, we never got around to actually playing the game. Everything got placed into a small box, and was soon forgotten about.

Fast forward to 2016. I had become involved with playing and collecting various trading card games – Magic, Force of Will, etc. I quickly realized the enormous expense in attempting to collect current games, so I switched my focus to out of print games – games with an end point are usually easier and cheaper to acquire. About a year ago, I stumbled across that long forgotten box of Pirates ships, and I was instantly hooked again.

Since then I’ve gone a little nuts and purchased well over 300 packs, plus the board game and a few DJC boxes. I guess I’m more of a collector at this point, as I’ve only had the opportunity to play this game once, and I keep one of every ship/card sleeved in their unpunched mintiness. I hope to change that to half player half collector in the near future. I’ve built about 50 ships so far, and with my duplicates, I can probably build another 250-300 ships. I’m waiting, though, as I haven’t found a good way to store them that keeps them both safe and organized. I really don’t like the idea of just dumping these fragile ships haphazardly into bins.

Anyways, I love this site and all the info that can be found here. Thank you for all you’ve done to help keep this game alive!
