Here’s a topic I’ve been pondering for a while: what game pieces that you think should be easily obtainable have otherwise evaded your grasp? I’m definitely not talking about LE’s, promos, or anything from SCS here, but rather commons and uncommons that you’d find in a set like Ocean’s Edge or Spanish Main.
Here’s my list:
- Captain Jack Hawkins [SM032] – I have managed to obtain all of the ghostly LE’s from this set, and yet I’ve still to find ol’ Captain Jack. It’s a shame, because I’d probably get a lot of use out of him and his crew kill on pin ability.
- El Paso [BC064] – I keep forgetting that this ship even exists. The canceler ability is always a nice bonus.
- HMS Dunlap [OE047] – I bought a lot of OE packs back in the day, and how this ship eluded me I’ll never know. She’s like a poor man’s HMS London.

I need only 40 items including things like a Ship in a bottle, Chummaker and Obago Deuce while this silly little common doesn’t want to show up in a pack.One day, I’m going to just start cracking the rest of my BC-U packs until I pull it or go crazy 😉

I’ve had a bunch over the years, but not many common/uncommons left. Looks like the Arabella (Pirate 4 master from CC) is the main one left. For a while it was Robert Surcouf to complete by C/U/R stuff from BC. I remember wanting HMS Sultan and the Metal Dragon for a long time, but now I’ve got both. Looks like I still don’t have USS Maryland either, but FN is not a common set.
I still haven’t opened a single Scavenger Pack box from SS, so until this year I didn’t have any of the MI’s/great turtles/trade currents from that set.

I just began the process of re-creating my lists since I’d allowed my MT membership to lapse a couple years back…So dumb!
As far as OE duplicates (that I intend to use for play), for 001-133, this is all I’m missing:
046 Lusca R
080 Le Coeur de Lion R
117 English Explorer/Treasure C
I’m adding these to this thread because rares from OE aren’t “that” rare relative to other sets (correct me if I’m wrong).
Could be I traded these away at some point, lol, which would skew the data – but still, wish I had ’em now!

Savage Shores ISLANDS of all things (& this is for my “core” collection, so really gritting my teeth):
Need 102, 105, 107, 109, 110, 115, 116
You and me both for the Arabella. A couple other things I’m missing, even though they’re rare include La Victoire and Black Swan. Both Pirate five mast ships, and both have eluded me thus far. One day……. 😀
@Xerecs: I have a “spare” La Victoire. She is unpunched but cards show slight scuffing. PM if interested.
Took me forever to find the common Jack Hawkins from the first set, which is crazy because that is the only set I’ve bought a whole bunch of packs with. Eventually I just bought it online.
After 120 packs of Spanish Main, I’m still missing 4 English ships (046, 052, 053 & 054), as well as 4 crew (057, 059, 065 & 066). From Revolution, after 2 displays, I’m missing the 024 HMS Swallow for my English and a few things for my French (048, 059 & 061).
Can’t really complain too much about the things missing from Revolution since we got pretty much all the American stuff and almost everything else, but man I can’t believe 120 Spanish Main packs later I’m still missing so much. And most of them are commons, too!
