I’m trying to figure some things out while simultaneously not decreasing my activity and content levels with Pirates CSG. Last year before the admin said that MT might survive, I looked into some database options for this WordPress site. It was a bit more overwhelming and intensive than I even expected.
I would like to have a searchable database and (after that) trading system here at PwB, but neither is likely to happen 1) while Miniature Trading is still viable and 2) in the next 3-6 months. It’s also likely I’ll be even busier after that time period, so I simply can’t promise such massive projects in any time frame.
For now I’m still working on publishing content to fill out the site, continue doing the daily tasks that keep me satisfied in the Pirates CSG realm, and working on small fixes and improvements. Trying to implement a database could also mean slowing the site down or even having to take it down for maintenance (or having it break unexpectedly), stuff I’d much prefer to avoid now that this forum has become more active than Miniature Trading.
For trading, hopefully Miniature Trading will continue to work into the future. If the site goes down, we can still use PM’s, Pojo (they have a trading system/rules), or the Buy/Sell/Trade group to facilitate trading. If MT does go down at some point, I would make a database and trading system at PwB a higher priority in my life IF I WAS ABLE TO.
The Master Spreadsheet works as a database, and for anyone wondering who didn’t see my post(s) at the Facebook group and/or here last year, I have saved all of the MT gallery pictures for Pirates using httrack (thanks to a recommendation from someone else in the community – neat tool). Should have done it sooner, but I just made the folder public so everyone can see it and download whatever they want. This is also good in case people want to make their own copies of the database pictures in case something bizarre happens where MT, my computer, and my Google Drive all fail simultaneously. XD

Thanks for that link to the galley pictures. It’ll help a bunch if/when I do reviews of ships/crew.

Just like a trading system, that would come after a database and as a result of one. A searchable database would be key in making a fleets section, but therefore it’s unlikely to happen yet. In the meantime I plan to post a Fleets Thread.
