Description

Seas of Japan Part 2 Mega Pack

Current batch of copies on sale due to misprinting – slightly more front-back misalignment than usual.

A sequel to my highly-rated Seas of Japan theme, this non-collectible Mega Pack release features Japanese game pieces from the 1500-1600s. Two new atakebune join the ranks, along with a red seal ship and the first sea serpent of the Pirates CSG relaunch!

The price is higher than my usual Mega Packs because it was originally released exclusively to subscribers of my Buccaneer’s Booty Box, which is my primary product.

  • Ships: Tekkōsen, Kitabatake, Nagoya, Ryūjin (sea creature)
  • Crew: Mukai Tadakatsu, Murakami Takeyoshi, Ohama Kagetaka, Murayama Tōan
  • 8 total brand-new game pieces across 12 cards!
  • Gameplay details seen on the cards pictured. Unboxing video at bottom of this product description as well.
  • Designed and Produced by: Pirates with Ben (A7XfanBen)

Atakebune (keyword): A ship with this keyword printed on its deckplate card has removable flags that are treated exactly the same as masts on a normal ship (they can be replaced by fire masts).
This ship may be given move actions when it has no flags; its printed base move becomes S. When given a move action, this ship can rotate on her bow (the front of the ship) OR stern (the rear of the ship) in any direction as an additional, final movement segment (she cannot rotate on both bow and stern in the same move action). This ship cannot pin or be pinned.
This ship gets +1 to her boarding rolls for every crew assigned to her. If this ship wins a boarding party, she may steal one treasure from the enemy ship (winner’s choice), and eliminate one crew (loser’s choice).
This ship cannot be assigned treasure except for treasure taken via boarding party.
Crew assigned to this ship do not count towards the ship’s point limit.
If this ship has no crew, she cannot be given move actions.

Disclaimers:
-This product is not affiliated with Wizkids. This is your chance to support a new company that is making the product in the USA!
-Health hazards: Styrene is a possible human carcinogen; do not inhale it. Recommend washing hands and cleaning up area after building the ships. Punching pieces out of the cards can be messy – it’s best to clean up the styrene dust after handling.
-The laser cutting can distort the artwork slightly, seen if you look closely. Some cards may have laser scorch marks on them, which can actually look cool as battle damage.
-There may be some areas where the cuts are more jagged.
-Some of the artwork may be slightly misaligned from front to back, due to the difficulty of aligning both the print jobs and the cut process.
-Thoughtful design: These game pieces have not been playtested, but they were carefully crafted and edited using a combination of Ben’s extreme experience (600+ PCSG games played!) and guidance from four different point-costing systems.

Tips for constructing your new fleet:
-Thicker plastic=More durability! My styrene is a bit thicker than the plastic used for the original cards, but please be patient when building the ships – they can be fragile.
-When punching out the pieces, it’s best to push on the areas near where they are connected to the card via tabs (ex: the top and bottom of masts).
-There may be discrepancies on slot tolerances – the ships should construct well as shown in the pictures, but results may vary. Some slots may have small extra bits of styrene that must be removed in order to fit the pieces together.
-Best to leave ships constructed – due to the laser burning away material, they generally don’t go back into the cards well.
-Recommended to insert some tabs into slots in isolation to test fit before building a ship in full.

Material: .04″ white styrene with UV ink. The high-quality ink doesn’t scratch or flake!
