Description
Exotic New World Discovered in the Far East as Pirates Flock There in Record Numbers!
A new region awaits in Pirates: Seas of Japan!
In November 2024, I had an idea for a very unique Pirates CSG product. ALL new ship and creature types. A mixed-set combination of historical and fantasy elements. A brand-new faction.
There are 11 total game pieces in this release – each pack contains 2 random Seas of Japan ships/creatures and 1 crew. This is not a “game in every pack”, but my Restarting Rules and New Master Keyword List can be found here for your optional use and printing.
FREE Bonus: Captain-approved assembly guide to get your ships sea-ready in no time!
-Build with confidence: Printed instructions included to walk you through every step of building your new ship/creature types.
Disclaimers:
-This product is not affiliated with Wizkids. This is your chance to support a new company that is making the product in the USA!
-Health hazards: Styrene is a possible human carcinogen; do not inhale it. Recommend washing hands and cleaning up area after building the ships. Punching pieces out of the cards can be messy – it’s best to clean up the styrene dust after handling.
-The laser cutting can distort the artwork slightly, seen if you look closely. Some cards may have laser scorch marks on them, which can actually look cool as battle damage.
-There may be some areas where the cuts are more jagged.
-Some of the artwork may be slightly misaligned from front to back, due to the difficulty of aligning both the print jobs and the cut process.
-A few pieces may be held in the card with tape after falling out during laser cutting and post processing.
-These Seas of Japan booster packs are not regular packs that can be torn open easily. It is best to open the top, then gradually pinch the cards up from the bottom of the pack until you can grab them out of the top.
-Thoughtful design: These game pieces have had minimal playtesting, but they were carefully crafted and edited using a combination of Ben’s extreme experience (593 PCSG games played!) and guidance from four different point-costing systems.
Tips for constructing your new fleet:
-Thicker plastic=More durability! My styrene is a bit thicker than the plastic used for the original cards, but please be patient when building the ships – they can be fragile.
-When punching out the pieces, it’s best to push on the areas near where they are connected to the card via tabs (ex: the top and bottom of masts).
-There may be discrepancies on slot tolerances – the ships should construct well as shown in the pictures, but results may vary. Some slots may have small extra bits of styrene that must be removed in order to fit the pieces together.
-Best to leave ships constructed – due to the laser burning away material, they generally don’t go back into the cards well.
-Recommended to insert some parts in isolation to test fit before building a ship in full.
Speedy shipping: Most orders ship on the same or next day! (some Friday-Sunday orders ship on Monday)
Material: .04″ white styrene with latex or UV ink. The high-quality ink doesn’t scratch or flake!

Complete with pack art and ability inserts, Seas of Japan does a remarkable job at replicating the original Wizkids pack-opening experience! The new Japanese faction and ship types are the main attraction, with the atakebune bringing a real-world analog to the world of Pirates. Each ship punches out of cards, just like the originals, yet this material is far more durable than styrene. The artwork comes out a little faded at times, and the laser cutting makes the slots a little imprecise, but if you’re looking for a glimpse of that late 2000’s magic, this is the product for you!

I got my package a little while ago and I loved them your great little tricky getting it together. Scalpel figure they’ll file works wonders the artwork is fantastic. My daughter saw the turtle and wants one. I am an old retired man just collecting him and this is a nice addition to my collection when my admiral says I can have a couple more. I plan on doing it. I enjoyed them. I’d like to get the rest of them that I saw but it’ll take a little time then you’re doing an awesome job keeping these ships going. Thank you so much.

Have bought a pack from both mini-releases, and was very happy with the quality of the cards. Minimal differences between release editions, and the artwork for all of the pieces is spectacular. It’s such an amazing feeling to open new packs after all these years. 20/10, plan to buy a pack each release!

Very satisfied and pleased with the quality of the cards, and quite happy to be opening a pack of Pirates for the first time in years.

It’s pretty awesome to be opening a new, “in production” pack. A few production/manufacturing issues on the pack I received, the atakebune’s flags were cut out poorly and are so short they won’t sit in their slots without falling in. But totally forgivable for how well done everything else is.
Looking forward to future releases!

Hi Jack,
Glad you like it! I’ll work on making those cabin slots better, though sometimes the laser cutting is just barely inexact enough to cause issues.
Thanks!
Ben

What a great idea for a Pirates expansion! I loved everything about it, from the design of the ships and crew, to the artwork used, and the rules mechanics. There is something for everyone in this set, even fun sea monsters! I hope you continue to expand upon this theme. Thank you.
