If you have an explorer and a captain on a ship, you get both abilities during the move correct? You also order the resolution of those abilities?
It was a great time. I hope you do get to try it out and if you do, please report your experience with the game types as well. The feedback will be helpful! Next up we are implementing “return fire” in the shooting rules. I will let you know what we find with that mechanic as well! Happy sailing.
The derelict is scuttled per scuttling rules, then replaced in it’s starting position. It’s never sunk permanently.
So it’s essentially the mechanic that returns the flag to where it was to begin with. The derelict does not stay sunk, it returns “home”, but any treasure or crew aboard the derelict as it is scuttled are lost to Davy Jones’s L…[Read more]
That’s a super helpful link lol man some of those ships are pricey!
Barbary Coast is definitely my next target. Hard to find packs though and they’re pretty expensive, but Galleys are worth it lol
Good luck on your pulls! I actually really like RV SR pack. I love Galleys and the Star of Siam is a great ship. The chain shot specialist is fun too.
I got all of those too except the HMS Swallow and we only got 6 UTs. I got a duplicate Bonhomme Richard deck plate but did not get the 2/3 or 3/3 plates. Funny thing is I didn’t even realize it was the super rare pack until after the opening and I was pricing out the pulls.
Here are two game types I’ve implemented in my play group:
Capture the flag(ship)
60 point fleets
Game type rules:
Gold is used to buy back ships that have been sunk, lost crew cannot be retrieved. Gold does not replenish so buy backs must be done carefully, as the buy back cost is equal to the point value of the ship. To buy back a ship, y…[Read more]

This may be the wrong place to ask, but is there a thread for custom game rules?
Derrick Derksen replied to the topic WHY do you prefer that the game is collectible, OR think it shouldn’t be? in the forum Pirates CSG 1 year, 2 months ago
My simple answer is yes it should be collectable for those who wish to.
My only caveat to this is to make the game product have focus on players too. Collectors tins are great and have been a staple of CCGs forever. MTG has collectors boosters even. The problem is other than boring generic starter decks, most CCGS don’t have any good player or…[Read more]
My battle report from yesterday:
Players – 7
total time – 5 hours
total starting treasure – 56 tokens totaling 105 gold
HMS Grand Temple (OE) with captain
HMS Victoria (OE) empty
Triton’s Bane (OE) with explorer
Ships remaining – 2, Triton’s Bane went derelict so I scuttled it with 5 gold worth of treasure on board.
Ships sank -…[Read more]
Yes! Thank you. The HMS Grand Temple is almost unfair with how great it is.
@Ben No, I didn’t realized the in game iteration of the Dauntless was a 5 master, I remember the ship having 4 masts in the movie, but I could have been mistaken. If the in game Dauntless is a 5 master, then my version would also be a 5 master.
I’ve been thinking about custom ships that’re revisions of existing ships, with the caveat that they have been captured and are under the control of the Pirate faction. This idea was of course inspired by the capture of the Dauntless by Jack Sparrow and William Turner.
