Naturally this has been proposed before, but I haven’t added it to the main page yet.
-Play with real money
When setting up the game, everyone contributes real coins. This would most likely be pennies/nickels/dimes/quarters, or just one of the above so each island would have the same amount. It would be interesting if there was some way to hi…[Read more]
Another continuation of something I started at Miniature Trading. 9 years of Pirates CSG. 2019 was apparently my first year not doing any real trades, but it was still a fun year overall. I didn’t add the campaign games to the total because those simply represent CG4 and The Hourly Campaign continuing as normal.
Haven’t posted the VASSAL standings in a long time… I’m sure this list is missing games, but it should include all of the VASSAL games I’ve been involved in along with a handful of others.
-For this list, games only count as losses if less than 4 players/fleets are involved.
Now up to 42 items being bid on, with a lot of singles. Zeus may actually sell for $110+!
This does not feel complete without the old thread here…[Read more]
American Canoes over Zeus for sure. It’s a big scary ship that’s horribly underpriced, but it’s still a single basket of eggs. The canoes can scatter in five directions, and are quick enough that even without chaining them, they can pull in a lot of gold before an opponent hunts them all down.
Both are extremely good, just hard to compare. I have…[Read more]
Just finished rereading the reports for VASSAL Campaign Game 3, certainly one of my all time favorite games.
Here is a version of the Master Spreadsheet with all the sets in one tab. 2652 total game pieces!
You can download it via File>Download, or grab the link at the bottom of the homepage here.
CG4 has continued with some interesting developments, especially regarding my own factions.
The situation in the far north continues to slowly escalate. At the left near the fog, the Eagle pursued the […]
I was about to make a site post about ranking the Top 10 overall game pieces. I’m finding it extremely difficult. XD This is my current draft of that post but it is really up for endless debate to say the least. 🙂 Feel free to release your own list!

The Best of the Best in Pirates CSG
It’s been a while since I rele…[Read more]
Being pinned restricts movement, which includes the movement caused by towing, so the Sea Monster has to release it first.
If Fear on a nearby ship hit that same Sea Monster with a 5 roll, that would theoretically release that pinned ship correct? (since then the Sea Monster would be pinned instead with the keyword cancelled) If that happened,…[Read more]
“3D Printing Across All Retail Sectors” section made me think about Pirates a bunch.
Just saved the following URL’s in full page screen capture format and in the Internet Archive:

Plunder Pack on sale a bit at HWG, but still $15 more than the original MSRP.
@Xerecs: Great comment! CG’s take a TON of time. I wasn’t aware/didn’t remember that this year’s CoEC was on more of a time constraint.
I’ve lost count of how many Pirates Podcasts I’ve been in, but each and every one was fun to make and participate in.
Love hearing that! 🙂
I want to be able to make some headway with my SS project on VAS…
Ben commented on the post, Gimmicks For The Win – Unorthodox Strategies for Success 2 months, 2 weeks ago
@Xerecs: I would consider the UPS fleets gimmicky since they use a very specific strategy that relies on a rarely seen ability. I simply didn’t include them because they almost literally always win. XD
It’s a bit of a gray area with the “gimmick” category. Sea creatures are somewhat gimmicky; eventually it becomes a matter of opinion. That…[Read more]
Woelf now has editing access to the Master Spreadsheet, so if there are any remaining errors you find in that starting 12/14, he can make the corrections for the shared Google sheet version.
I’m not sure if you’re the first person to figure this out for a campaign or not, but it does represent a sound strategy that few factions can match, since the Spanish have the most of those kind of ships and crew.
I think that’s where the “publicity” aspect of “modern” campaign games comes into play. It’s quite probable that someone played a ca…[Read more]
@John White: Welcome aboard matey!
@Jeremiah: Some pretty powerful lighthouses! For the Cursed Seas ability, can you place that terrain directly under ships? If you wanted a friendly Cursed ship to enter a fog bank to hide from an enemy, could you?
About The Obelisk…
This treasure can’t be removed from this ship unless she sinks.
For Nem…[Read more]
I’m also partial to the pregame map from my IRL game with The Keymaster
O_O When I saw this sentence in the email notification without the image under it, I was thrown for a massive loop. XD I’m pretty sure there was a user at Miniature Trading with that exact username (The Keymaster) who wasn’t the admin or anything. I figured you must have…[Read more]
