Ben started the topic What game pieces are the most fun or memorable for everyone? in the forum Pirates CSG 1 week, 6 days ago
Just thought of a Question of the Day that really intrigues me. 🙂
For you and/or your play group, what is the game piece that is the most FUN to involve in games as often as possible? What game pieces are the most memorable overall, game after game?
For me, it might be the Frontier. The American hoist boasts 8 cargo for 17 points and is ju…[Read more]
Today is the one year anniversary of my Legend of the Giant Turtle game! One of the more memorable games I’ve played. 😀
You could do something similar with Pirates where after so many turns, everyone starts rolling a die/dice at the end of their turn. If anyone hits the specific target, the game ends.
Certainly an interesting idea, and dramatic. Could result in more desperate tactics earlier in games with a less predictable ending.
Though part of the reason I…[Read more]
Sorry, I clicked edit on your post instead of reply.
No problem, though you should be able to go back a page without saving/submitting a post edit.
I think a better wording for the second part would be something like this:
“Unloading would still be a free action, but it wouldn’t happen automatically. While docked, the player could choose when…
From the Rules survey:
Do you think all standard treasure coins should be automatically unloaded when docking at a home island or fort?
Unloading would still be a free action, but players would get to choose which treasures to unload when docking at home.
Is this confusing? I feel like the note below the question contradicts the question, but I…[Read more]
I remember talking about an idea I had when Miniature Trading was still operational – trying to expand on the idea of a simple volcanic custom island and make it more “real”. Ideas include:
-Having a true eruption (science project style) where “lava” comes out of the volcano and any ships affected get fire masts proportionate to how much lava…[Read more]
Ben wrote a new post, Pirates Launch More Epic Customs and The Cursed Attack!! 2 weeks, 1 day ago
CG4 continues to develop! Here is the music mix I listened to for most of the Pirate turn. Crazy enough, their post-turn period of launching and truly grand strategizing took even longer than their actual tu […]
Seeing 2 auctions at $500 right now along with other goodies like a punched Guichuan.
The latest in CG4! The Pirate fleet continues to grow (this time with quality not quantity) and the Cursed make an interesting decision! 😀
So thank you to Ben for entertaining me during some long downtimes at work.
Thank you for joining the site! Welcome aboard.
I also may have placed a sizable order for more Pirates from eBay.
Huzzah for more Pirates stuff!! 😀
@Woelf: Glad I’ve been playing it right all this time then! 🙂
If an Eternal ship’s oarsman is cancelled, I assume you can roll to scuttle the ship that turn? If rolled successfully, would the ship be placed at the HI via Eternal even on the turn after when the oarsman became “active” again?
I assume Necklace of the Sky is placed face down when…[Read more]
Good timing, another new member is also in Michigan! 🙂
My favorite faction was the Barbary Corsairs because I found the ships so beautiful. Carthage, and the Asesino De La Nave were my rarest ships, and thus my prized pieces. I have, however, recently acquired a collection from a local marketplace that has increased my c…
Things like the mentioned scenario happen fairly frequently in my Summer games, although it’s usually about rights to dock and trade with another faction at a trading port. A few times military help is offered, most recently in 2019 the Americans attempted to recruit the French and English to work together to take on the Spanish (eventual second p…
Apologies if I’ve already asked this before. Embarrassed to admit I’ve never fully understood how it works.
Sargasso sea timing:
If the Sargasso Sea’s rating is more than the number of masts or segments, the game piece is tangled in the weeds and might not be able to move.
If a game piece is tangled, you can use its action for the turn to try…
BROKEN, PUNCHED Zeus at $162.50 with almost 4 days to go!! (as we enter one of the worst recessions on record) O_O Sometimes this game has impressive staying power!!
It has given me second thoughts about getting rid of it and I am curious to know more about how this place operates. It has also made me curious about the possible existence of similar places I might be able to once again play. I guess I’m looking for advice. Finding out that what I have long thought was stacks of worthless plastic may act…
Latest update to the Master Spreadsheet has a few corrections: Rigetti>Ragetti. Pintell>Pintel in a flavor text. Handful of game piece type changes, mostly from Ship>Crew or vice versa.
Some pretty good stuff being bid on right now… a Baochuan and 18 pack MI box end today. However, after that there will still be a GF9, F&S treasure card, and built copies of the Guichuan and Zeus up for grabs!
While searching for an unrelated email from a while back, I found an email I sent to Xerecs in 2017 about an idea for the Caribbean game.
I had another idea. Factions might be so desperate for a wartime ally that they are willing to pay or bribe other factions. Say two factions are at war and one wants to bring a third into the conflict. Th…

@Xerecs: I don’t see anything about that line from the Code in the Rules thread.
And no, I’m not going to redo 5+ hours of my life for a rule that didn’t matter much in the first place. The key is, if the Pirates followed that rule perfectly, the result would be the same. The Stormcloud would have just sailed into the fog bank on the last turn…[Read more]
